Ok so it's not really the Metal Years, the part two part made me think of a documentary I used to watch over and over, Decline of Western Civilization Part Two The Metal Years and it made me giggle. I realize I'm a dork and am probably the only one here to ever have watched it..
Sooo..the saga continues..I ended up going with a bigger center for my three stone. Sight unseen basically. I just sent my three stone back to GOG and they took the stones out, I wired the money for the new center and then they sent the stones on to Singlestone for me. The new center is a .71 L AVC, and the proportions are much better for me, for this project. There wasn't anything wrong w/my other center, I liked having them all pretty much identical in size, just for the design I ultimately decided on, I felt it needed the bigger center for juuuuust a tish more graduation.
I'd been talking with Mike Robinson, and posted the sketches he'd done for me. They're gorgeous, and man if he's not completely amazing to work with! I just ended up moving in a different direction is all..It was a hard decision, but I just kept coming back to loving Coati's yg three stone, and I knew that was the right one for me.
My ring will be unplated 18k wg, and will look just a smidge different than Coati's in that it will have an open gallery. I love Uppy's JM three stone, and her open gallery in that ring just is so beautiful to me. I'm working w/Heather at Singlestone, and I did ask for a sketch or something first, to see how the open gallery would look. If it wasn't going to work then I would give that part up. They did CAD's for me-they don't use them, but it helps to give an idea of what something will look like at least, and they're very helpful I think! Heather said the bezels on the sides, the profile view, will have to be a little thicker, but I don't think it will make a difference, really.
I'm torn on a wedding band at the moment...I'd planned on a certain ring, but it's rhodium plated, and I wonder how it would look w/an unplated ring!
