hey - facetfire (hope i got that right, was going on memory) just posted to your original thread - the tiffany .45 is on sale at SP. $1975!! just wanted to make sure you catch that, in case you don''t get emails with new posts to your threads (doesn''t work for me).

I saw that, too, and thought of him! What a great deal!

I''m fairly certain Atenay''s girlfriend nixed the idea of a used/antique/estate ring. I''m pretty sure he mentioned this in an earlier thread.

I hope he finds something he and his gf are both pleased with and that he let''s us know.

I guess I missed that post. What a shame. I would be happy with a pre-owned ring if it allowed me to get the exact setting I wanted and with a larger, better color diamond than we could otherwise afford (no need to tell the friends and family how it was acquired), but realize not everyone feels the same way.

ETA: Of course, I love estate jewelry. It goes along with my whole philosophy of re-using or recycling whatever you can, plus there are some great pieces available that way.

Kay - i totally agree with you. i wasn''t 100% sure but i thought i had read that she was opposed to a previously owned ring. however, i figured it was worth posting just in case i was wrong about that, and even if she had been opposed, maybe the new price might give them cause to rethink the idea.

rainydaze and everyone else-
i am so touched that you saw the sale and thought of me! so posting it makes it seem really real... i bought the .45 tiffany from signed pieces! don''t worry, getting the used one was not her first choice but i checked with her and with our budget she agreed that it probably wouldn''t have any effect on her happiness about the ring.

i am feeling GREAT about this decision and i wanted to thank everyone on pricescope who has helped me make what was a really tough decision. i think i got a once in a lifetime deal and i am positive my girlfriend will be absolutely thrilled. the proposal may not be for a while still, but afterward i will be sure to post pics and let you know how it all turned out.
