When I click on the big red headline "LIVE UPDATES" nothing happens.
IOW, currently there is no story behind the headline - or it has not been uploaded yet.

I assume this means LA hospitals are full.

Yet anit-mask protesters are demonstrating in LA stores.

But But But ... if everyone listened to the CDC and wore masks etc., the hospitals would not be full.
What gives?
Why/how can so many Americans be this stupid?
WTF happened to my country? :cry2:

Honestly, all this has me watching reruns of TV shows and films from back in my days, the 50s and 60s.
I miss a world that made some sense.

I read yesterday the undertakers in LA are full and are having to turn families away

Remember all the tragic photos of hurricane Katrina ?
This is every bit as tragic viewed from afair but unlike a hurricane so much of this is preventable

I think that is the case, no ICU beds in some hospitals, but I can’t believe that they expect the paramedics to make such decisions.
im sure already many doctors have made hard decisions.
there’s one ventilator available and 3 patients in dire need. One is 23 years old no kids, one is 40 years old with 3 kids, one is 65, just retired otherwise great health.
which one gets the ventilator?
And its not just Covid patients, if you’re in a car accident victim, or have a heart attack or a stroke, there’s no ICU bed for them either.
People with non critical surgery needs, including treatments for cancer, have all been shunted away, no doctors, nurses or beds to spare.
just a mess.
stay home, wear a mask, wash your hands and pray to God that everyone else around you is doing the same.

What about all the people who would normally be diagnosed with treatable cancers ? :(2

Or even just people who have non life saving surgeries delayed and its effecting their quality of life
This would be terrible for an older person waiting on something like a new hip

Its bad enough Gary waiting for his cataract surgery

This is terrifying.
It's like we are in a nightmare. One we cannot wake up from anytime soon.

:(

It puts the paramedics and other healthcare workers at high risk for moral injury. Very concerning.

It is truly horrible but I'm confused as to why they are so surprised by the sheer numbers. This was NYC is March-May. This was Italy before that. In NYC the national guard was called in to help retrieve remains because funeral homes and ambulances were overwhelmed. When my father passed in April they took many hours to retrieve the body then cremation and burial took months to complete due to the massive backlog. It was heartbreaking for everyone.

Why didn't LA take notice? Field hospitals could have been prepared in advance instead of forcing the moral burden onto healthcare personnel. Everything about this makes me furious and sad. I don't even know what to say.

Please take care of yourselves and take reasonable precautions. The loss is already too great.
