I am looking to reset my 1.4 brilliant cut stone that is currently in a solitaire. My wedding band is a five stone shared prong band, total carat weight is 1.00. I love the halo look but would probably need to purchase a new band to wear if I went with the halo, I have short fingers and my goal is to maximize the look of my diamond. Currently I think my wedding band detracts from the beauty of the stone. I am open to all suggestions. My finger size is 5.5.B5FDB200-4759-4C58-BC7B-8F4334E17C1A.jpegCD995519-E3A0-42A1-A1B4-4AC0BFF76EAA.jpeg

Welcome to Pricescope! :wavey:
Your rings are beautiful.

Would you want to wear your wedding band on your right-hand and get a new band to wear with your solitaire; perhaps a diamond band with smaller stones or an engraved band?

By the way, Hangout is for non-jewellery stuff, so if you have your thread moved to Rocky Talk (diamond-related threads) you might get more suggestions. Just a comment, not a big deal.

Oh I didn’t know that!!! Thanks for telling me and thank you for your suggestions. I think I am going to do that; wear the diamond band alone and get a new band to wear with my solitaire. Although I still love halos!!!

There are so many beautiful settings that its hard to choose.
For myself, I keep returning to the idea of a classic solitaire with a diamond band, and a right-hand diamond band that has larger stones. It just seems so classic and elegant.

Yes, I agree with you! My diamond is beautiful on its own.

Both of your rings are beautiful but the 5 stone has stones large enough that draws attention away from the solitaire that's why IMHO it doesn't work as a set. I agree with the above posters, buy a thinner band with smaller diamonds in it to go with your solitaire or a plain or engraved band so that it is a feature in its own right and wear the other band on the other hand either on it's own or team it with plain bands as well. That way you have a really cool right hand and left hand combination of rings to wear.

Three or four more 20 point stones, and you could make one eye-popping cluster in the 3+ ctw range. Take a look at the thread for cluster pieces started by @missy - great ideas in that. Then buy a new, plain wedding ring.

Awesome!!

That’s a new idea to consider. Thank you!

Thank you!!!

My rings are from Blue Nile and they do have a setting that matches my band.
It is an exact match with two stones on either side of the center stone. It would be a show stopper set if I went that direction but it would make the set 5mm with both rings. That may be too wide for comfort on my short fingers.

Hi @ClassicSAC -

If you went with the matching setting, your center diamond would be even more swallowed up in side stones. I think it would be absolutely counter intuitive to what you're trying to do. On top of that, the wedding ring setting would bleed into the e-ring setting - and neither would show any obvious form.

Not the direction I'd head.

I totally agree with you. I went to a Blue Nile showroom and they suggested the matching setting since most of their other settings are too low to it comfortably with the band. They suggested wearing the band alone or making it a RHR if i didn’t want the matching setting.
