I have 3 sarin reports. Which one should I look into more? The one or two I pick will be brought in so I can see the IS and actual diamond.

Please help! thanks

Asscher #1

1.024 D VVS2 $6822
VG,G
table: 64.7
depth: 68.7
crown height: 14.6
pav. depth: 50.1
girdle: 4
5.47x5.52 mm (1.01 L/W)

Asscher #2

1.082 E VS2 $5820
VG,VG
table: 65.9
depth: 68.0
crown height: 14.7
pav. depth: 50.2
girdle: 3.1
5.54x5.88 (1.06 L/W)

Asscher #3

1.085 G VS1 $6600
EX, EX
table: 59.8
depth: 67.7
crown height: 16.4 ----- too high?
pav. depth: 48.2
girdle: 3.1
5.55x5.89 (1.06 L/W)

Get #2 and #3 in to look at. They offer a good choice of reasonably similar diamonds. CUt a bit differently, not far from eachother in color/clarity and not a huge financial gap. Unless you are into VVS type material, it is no better than VS in general for an engagement ring. Also, both weigh more than #1, so if they happen to chip it is more likely each would remain above 1.00ct when fixed..... Plan ahead.

I think the VS1 and 2 will be fine but feel like the overall presence of the first diamond is better than the other two.

first one the table is borderline, vvs2 is overkill and sym is only good.

second - table is larger than optimal.

third - sounds good.- some of the best asschers are in that range lately.

I''m certainly no expert but I noticed that the ratio of #2 and #3 are 1-1.06. If you are looking for a perfectly square stone, I''d doubt that either of there would qualify.

Asscher #1 has a good square ratio of 1-1.01. That would be more in my comfort zone, but I don''t like the fact that the symmetry or was it polish is only rated as Good. I''ve read many comments where VG is as low as you should go.

Just my .02

should i be worrying about the 1.06 ratio? I am looking for a nice square one and seems like the ideal range is 1-1.05.

here is a rendition of 1.06 and 1.01

good call I missed that on #3 been busy lately.
Yea it does knock it out for a lot of people.

things that bother me about each diamond:

#1 - only has Good Symmetry
#2 - has 1.06 L/W and VS2. I prefer to have good clarity, => VS1
#3 - high crown and 1.06 L/W

i have other diamonds that GOG has but table and depth % are little off.

is this ok?
table between 60-62%
depth from 72-74%

and with crown height, i should definitely keep it between 10-15, right?

Again, definitely not as expert, but those depth parameters seem high.

The asscher I''m getting from GOG has a table of 61%, a depth of 67% and a crown depth of 16.95%.

I agree that I wouldn''t go lower in clarity with an asscher than VS1, buy maybe that''s just me being picky...again

The L/W ratio on mine is 1

Good luck with your search and GOG is a great place to be looking!

Table 58-62
depth 65-70
crown height above 10%, over 15% can sometimes effect the patterns but not always 2 cutters are cutting them in the 15-18 range and doing a great job.
l/w ratio around 1.00 to 1.02
vg/vg sym/polish or better
Thats optimal from there there are some that can be great if everything is done right.
Wheen calling stones in I recomend sticcking to that but if a vendor has the asscher in stock then pictures tell the story not the numbers with the exception of crown height and you can puch the numbers out a little.
But when calling stones in its beetter to stick within the guidlines then get pictures and let the pictures do the talking.
