Hello, newbie here!

My husband surprised me with a 2-year anniversary upgrade.

Right now I have a .70 RB set in a dainty micropave.

I want to go up to a full carat, in a plain bezel setting. I really love asschers, and I've been looking at the bezel setting at James Allen. However, I've realized that a 1ct asscher is probably going to look the same on my finger as what I have now. I would like a little more diamond with my upgrade.

I don't think I want another RB, but I'm not sure I want to sacrifice the finger coverage for the asscher. Any thoughts? My budget is about 6k for everything, including a plain band( all platinum).

Thank you so much for your time!

Emerald cut maybe?

Asschers do face up small, and I agree that it is not going to give you what you want in terms of size.

Dumpy emerald (short and fat so looks like an elongated asscher). If you like chunky facets maybe an OEC instead of an RB?

If you want pure finger coverage maybe an oval or a pear.

I would be very happy with a carat, as it's only a 2nd anniversary upgrade. My RB is a J SI1, so those stones you posted are beautiful. Do emeralds face up better and how do they look in a bezel?

I have a 1.11 EC that is very squared off due to the 1.09 length to width ratio. Many jewelry store salespeople have complimented me on my 'asscher'. It's a K in color and is set in the Sholdt semi bezel. A stone like mine would be well with-in your budget. I wear a 7.25 and the diamond measures 6.24 x 5.71.

An EC with a bigger ratio differential (elongated) can make it appear larger to the eye. Other shapes that look large are ovals, if you like the different way they sparkle.

I personally think emerald cuts face up smaller just like asschers. If you want to notice a size difference, I'd recommend another round or an oval. A 1 ct round is about 6.4-6.5mm.

That's beautiful!

I'm still so undecided. How it faces isn't super important to me, but I would like it to face up bigger than my .70. My mother has a 2.05ct EC Athat she plans on giving me in a year or so, so I don't know if getting an EC makes sense.

If you love asschers, then get one.

Can you save up for a while? If you can save up to 10k total we can get you a really nice sized one.
