So we went and looked at the diamond today. Here are the specs on it.

And for what it is worth, in person, it was absolutely stunning! Just lovely.

1.57 carats
I color
vvsi2 clarity

Crown - 11%
Pavilion - 54%
Table Width - 67%
Table - 67%
Polish - vg
symmetry - vg
girle - vg

$6800.

I think we are going to get it...just would like the thoughts of some of the experts here!

Thanks much!
Lyss

If you love it then that''s all I need to hear. I''ll let Storm comment on the specs as I am still learning asschers. But yay for you!!! So exciting!!!

Thanks. I''m pretty excited. Oh, and it has no flouresence (that is spelled entirely wrong...but you know what I mean)...

whats the depth?
is 67 right for the table?
what are the demensions? LxWxH

If you love the looks of it then thats pretty much it :}
Have you compared it to others?
Were the patterns good?

Hmmm. I''m thinking that I should have had the jeweler make a copy of the document...I wrote it down, but apparently I wrote it down wrong...He even offered. Gah. I''m not the brightest bulb.

Anyway, I looked again and I have Table: 67.4 and Table Width 67. Perhaps the first is table depth?

It had very good depth, looks wise and really well defined windmills.

I also didn''t write down the dimensions. I suck!

Any thoughts on what I do have?

Thanks much!

If the table is 67 its on the big side so check and make sure it doesnt have too glassy of a look for you.
Check the color to make sure your ok with it.

Check this thread to see what to look for in patterns if you havent allready:

Otherwise all I can really say is look at in multiple types of lighting and it makes your heart sing then make it yours :}

Agreed... who wouldn''t

I would have a bit to add though.

You gave us table, crown height, girdle thickness and depth. All these together paint the picture below, and from that to some guess of what this diamond looks like all is left to whatever experience and imagination everyone has. Just an educated guess, basically. I suppose it can be a very educated guess with someone like David Atlas for his AGA charts that use the same numbers. Maybe some of this experience could even be formally explained for everyone to understand, but that does not sound trivia to me at all.

Just a 2c thought

Could you post some pix would LOVE to see it!

Just wanted to say that I LOVE, LOVE my 1.5 H VVS1 with a 67% table. I knew it was 2% over the recommended table specs when I saw it but I loved it in person & had that "THE ONE" feeling about it immediately. FYI mine is also a little off square, 6.66 x 6.39, but I loved that too for my hand shape, gave it a little extra oomph lengthwise for the carat weight.

"Ideal" specs are great but your eyes & heart tell you everything you need to know, IMHO.

Well said Deco. Specs are just that, numbers. Can''t wear them on your hand, can you. A good guideline yes, but your eyes will tell the truth. If it makes your heart sing, then that''s the one for you.

Thanks for all the input everyone!

My soon-to-be fiance was supposed to bring the camera, but he forgot it...so we won''t have pics until I have the ring...which, btw, I am having set in a super thin halo, with the asscher elevated about the halo.

We did some looking at some retail shops this evening and just didn''t find anything even close...I''ve had my heart set on an asscher for years and years. Don''t know why...just think they are lovely stones.

So I think it is all systems go.

And I defitely read all several of the asscher links, including the one you posted storm...I really appreciate all the info and it gave me good info.

Thanks again!
Melissa
