Hi!

I'm a long time lurker. Reading of your posts has given me the courage to scrap my first engagement ring (engaged in Sept. 2012) and start over. I wasn't happy with the first diamond and the jeweler was not easy to work with. He deisgned a ring for me, but wouldn't listen any of my ideas. I should have walked away, but was too caught up in the moment.

Flash forward a few months and now I've found a wonderful jeweler who has only my interests in mind! Below are the specs of an asscher he found for me. I thought I would ask for opinion of the pricescopers.

Weight - 1.30 Ct
Shape - Asscher Cut
Color - H
Clarity - VS2
Measurements - 5.96 x 5.89 x 4.12 mm
Depth - 69.9%
Table - 65%
Crown - 17.8%
Pavilion - 49.2%
Crown Angle - 34.9 degrees
Pavilion Angle - 45.3 degrees
Girdle - Slightly Thick Polished
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Very Good
Fluorescence - N/A

Thanks!

Table - 65%
Crown - 17.8%

That is a very good start but we cant really tell you anything without pictures.
Which lab is the grading report from?
AGS/GIA are considered much more accurate than others.

Any step-cut (or any cut for that matter but especially step-cuts) with a "69.90%" total depth must be seen IRL.
The big question, what was the cutters objective in achieving the < 70% total depth.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures. I do know the lab report is EGL US.

Would the 69.90% depth mean it is too deep? I read somewhere that a good depth range for an Asscher can go up to 70%.

Exactly, this limitation of "70%" sometimes forces the cutter to compromise.
I prefer Asschers over that magic number limitation. But that is another long story.
