I am trying to do this on my own and my creative/artistic side has always been lacking. If I get a asscher stone with side stones, any suggestions on the shape of the side stones?
i would avoid asschers a sthe sides as the patterns --if they are too different--can be a bit psychedelic--i would do something very understated to let the Asscher show off.............bullets are my choice
Yeah... one more vote for step cut sides. Of them, straight baguettes would likely be the lest expensive and asscher sides the most (smaller for weight because specilaized sidestone shapes are usually spready). Inbetween there is a number of interesting step cut shapes starting with tappered baguettes, and traps (trapezoids) to some unusual finds like these step cut triangles:
You may find some examples on icestore.com, and there is a page with sidestones at Diamonds by Lauren (LINK) you may find useful.
Btw, pink baguettes anyone ?
This one below come from HERE and there are a few more classic asscher rings on that site.
For what that matters, the last would be my pic of the list - I like trap sides and the bezel setting also makes a point for me.
These are 'bullet' sides - to me, a more interesting version of straight-edge sides when skinny baguettes would just not do:
