Hest had a stone about your size made into a bezel at S. Stone--I''ll find the thread as it was one of my inspirations...I almost went with a full bezel. My center is 7.3 x 7.3. The side baguettes make it look much lar*er without a halo--kwim? They were wonderful to work with...

That''d be great kelly - that thread would be helpful to me. Thank YOU!

It really can be hard. I went over A LOT of pics in advance, too......

Ha ha. Don't worry, no need to apologize. Mine is just a suggestion and so many of the asschers have beautiful settings accommodating all kinds of tastes. I love the Leon Mege pave but most of the asschers he shows photos of are 2-3 ct. Since asschers face up small I found it difficult to really imagine my stone in a Leon setting. So here's a hand shot with my old wrinkly skin and dish-washing cuticles to show proportion. I don't remember the price but it was somewhere around $4K.

Hey Ellen, do you like traps better or the tapered baguettes??
Tapered baguettes.

I also like this look with bullets.

And thanks for the compliments, too. I had mine set very low because I am rough and bent my original ering. I never wear a band with this one.

Very pretty, clean and classic! Thanks for posting. Maybe I''ll get my 3ct asscher on our 10 year anniversary? Ha!

Maybe I should just take my ring back and keep it until I find the perfect setting. I''m getting stressed out.

I thought I really wanted the setting attached here but the jeweler says that he doesn''t think my stone will work well in this setting because it''s smaller. This stone is 1.66 and my stone is 1.20. I guess the traps he would have to get would be way smaller throwing the ring out of proportion.

sh*t. I guess I''ll get my ring back and keep looking.

So many great asscher settings! I love side traps, bullets or baguettes. A coworker of mine has an asscher with baguettes and I love it. Kellyfish''s 5 stone is a stunner and Musey''s setting is beautiful and classic. Browneyedcountrygirl''s setting is one of my favorites (the Leon setting Ellen posted), but it might be a tad overwhelming for 1.2 carats. It sounds like you want to keep the setting pretty simple and I think thats a great way to showcase your stone. Can''t wait to see what you pick!

You have a beauty ring too! Super hard to chose but I really want (and need!) to get it right this time. Yeah, I''ll post pics if/when this project happens.

Do you like the pic I posted above?

The setting can''t be made with smaller traps so that it is in proportion? It''s a very pretty setting.

When I was looking for settings for a 1ct square center, this Tacori is one I found and liked. The trap sides are pretty small (no idea on the size) and looked lovely and in proportion with a 1ct stone.

So, maybe the jeweler doesn''t think your stone would look right in that setting as it is, but maybe it would work with the same thing done with smaller sides.

That is a pretty setting - thanks for taking the time to post it. The jeweler says that he could use traps that are in proportion but that the overall the new ring would look small and he doesn''t think I''ll be happy with it. I''m not really concerned with trying to make it look bigger because it is what it is ya know? I''ll get a bigger ring sometime in the future.

I''m learning that overall I like settings that are a little more estate looking without being to fay cullen-ish or art deco.

After googling a lot of info - some people feel that a asscher shouldn''t be bezel set because light. So much to consider. Thanks again for your posts!

Yeah... I know what you''re saying. Mine is small in PSland though I didn''t care to make it appear bigger. I went with a halo anyway because I did want trap sides but didn''t want it to appear more 3-stone ring-ish rather than a center with sidestones.

I would definitely trust a skilled jeweler when they say it wouldn''t look right. What does he think of tapered baguettes or bullets with your stone?

heres what i just did for my future wifes 1.23 carat asscher

I''ll ask about the tapered baguettes or bullets. I''m with you on the 3 stone thing. My current ring looks like a 3 stone. I just wanted stones as accents not to take away from the center stone ya know?

It''s so funny... my ring as is cost a little over 12K. I don''t know where people get the money to buy these huge rings but more power to them!! Thanks for your imput!
