I have been waiting for a little pair of asschers for earrings. they will be set as drops with micropave halo.

These two stones are perfect in size and both same style of cutting... but should i be concerned with the big color difference, especially in step cut stones?

Thanks for expert opinions!

OMG those two asschers are soooo beautiful.
Lucky you!!!

They must have just come in since their GIA reports are dated 3 weeks ago.

You have to look very closely to see the difference between a D and a G when the stones are up side down, side by side, in front of a white card and under a good light.

Face up, mounted, with colors from the environment all around them and with your head between them nobody will see a color difference!

I''d ask Jon for his opinion.

waiting for Jon''s reply.

Those who know way better than me... you check these out.. do you have opinions on the cut???

kicken Id buy one or both in a heartbeat.
Ask Jon about the color difference but I think it should be fine.

I thought they looked nice... but it is still so hard for me to figure out if the windmills are right, the steps, the areas of dark vs light.... so complicated!

Thanks.

the stones are very pretty but i would not get such a coloir disparity. I would hold out for aDE, EF, GH pair

chas messed the regular pic up but this one is from the same lot by the same cutter and in the same lighting would be a match.

Its an si1 so caution would have to be used as to it being eye clean but it would make a good match for the D.

I saw that one as well... but I guess I have to ask Jon if the size difference is noticeable. The two colorless stones...one is 5.22mm vs 5.28.

I have been waiting for almost one year for a pair under 1 ct each with that new style asscher cut so I can wait longer if the color or size is off.

Just curious, but with matching two Asschers, would another thing to look for is shape? Regarding the clipped corners, specifically? Not all Asscher''s are as square as others and some have shorter corners than others, too. These seem to match fine, but I just wondered if that would be something else to consider. If it''s prong set, it probably wouldn''t matter, but I would think a bezel set, it could make a difference.

I''ve always been told to keep earrings within 1 color grade, but perhaps it''s the perception of 1 color grade that is more important than strictly what the reports say.

Good luck with it! They are gorgeous stones!
