Hi - i'm usually on colored stone but I have this huge urge for a diamond pendant. I have long loved the Lucida in a bezel setting so I'm now debating:
- a radiant cut in a bezel setting
- an asscher cut in a basket/prong setting
- and asscher in a bezel setting

I'd be looking at about a carat for the stone. What do you think might look nicer given I'm looking for a sleek, modern look? Would the depth of an asscher be an issue for a pendant? Also, I saw that prices on bluenile seem to be cheaper than whiteflash...any thoughts on that? Thanks in advance for your help!!

It is impossible to choose any fancy cut stone without photos, so I would totally forget BN for either an asscher or radiant. I vastly prefer asschers, personally, unless you get something like an ideal cut radiant like this:

An asscher is an antique cut but can look modern depending on the setting. The type of radiant I just posted is going to appear more brilliant in the necklace setting. So it really depends on your personal taste. Good Old Gold is a good place to look, because they specialize in well cut stones of all types and do light performance testing. Plus they can source stones if they don't have what you want in stock and make a video comparing options for you.

This is a beautiful asscher at a really great price point if you can handle I color:

Comparing diameter, the asscher faces up a little smaller at 5.5mm and the ideal square radiant is 5.7mm.

Lucida is a cut corner brilliant. Asschers are step cuts. Completely different. So a nicely cut square radiant is going to be closest. Particularly one with faceting like this: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/0.77-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-256156  Or this one: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/1.07-carat-h-color-vs1-clarity-sku-368832 (ask for ASET image from JA for all of these) Or if you want a rectangle, this type of faceting: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/1.01-carat-e-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-23447 or this one: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/1.02-carat-f-color-if-clarity-sku-23472
