Hello all! I have been interested in Asscher cut diamonds lately. I emailed a jewler in NYC and asked for a price. This is what he gave me.

$5000
Color: H
Clarity:VS1
Size:1.3 Carats
Depth: 75%
Table: 59%
Girdle:Medium
Cutlet:Small
Polish:excellent
Symmetry: Good

It won''t let me post a picture on here, I don''t know why! Anyway any advice would be GREAT!

I just want to know if it''s a TRUE Asscher cut (might be tough without the picture), and also are Asschers known for having such a small table? Does that make the diamond look really small? I kind of want to get my money''s worth! Thanks for any advice

Asscher cuts are almost always quite deep. This one is deep, so it is possible. Tables on Asschers are small, like ideal rounds, not like more common emerald cuts. Yours fits the small table description, too. Is it an Asscher? I can't begin to tell you without a decent set of pictures.

I can tell you that because it is deep, it will look small for its weight. This is inherent all all Asscher cuts, if one was to generalize. It isn't a problem for those who want an Asscher and nothing else. Many people consider an Asscher cut and then decide on a different cut version which looks larger, costs no more, and looks bigger. It is a choice left up to the consumer.

Analyze why you like the Asscher cut. If it is only a name or a brand, then it makes changing simple. If it is the distinct look of an Asscher, then go with the nicest one you can find that pleases you....

David-
Thank you so much for your response! I was hoping that you would be the one to respond. I have seen many of your posts and your information is just amazing! Thanks so much! I wish there was a way for me to show you a picture of this stone. It looks gorgeous but I am not overall sure about purchasing it. $5000 sounds like a good deal. I did notice however that the "stop sign" look that you mentioned is very prominent from what I can see! Thanks again for the response. I'll try and figure if I can post a picture. I don't know why it's not working, how frustrating!:P Thanks again!
