Curious as to the PSers thoughts and experiences with J Color Asschers with Yellow Gold?

I haven''t seen a J color Asscher in person and was wondering how it would look in a yellow gold bezel. The side of the stone would not be visible in the setting just the crown of the stone. I know it won''t face up white, but it should show the patterns really well.

Opinions? Here''s the Asscher I was thinking about.

hey Joe, last week I had the opportunity to see an asscher in K in all yellow gold (head and shank), and it was very apparent of the warmth, I wish I would have brought my camera to snap at it, I have a K round brillant, and my K well it really was very white compare to it (like a D color RB next to a K, if I can compare it that way). Although it was very warm. IT was still BEAUTIFUL. if you are ok, with enhancing the color of the K, then I think it would look AMAZING!
Although you're talking about a J, not too much in color grade difference, but just wanted to give you my two cents anyways.. whats your center color again?

ETA: also the warmth of the gold, really did show off the step cut very nicely too!

Hey D&T,

Thanks for the input from your experience, it is helpful.

Right now I''m in the final stages of moving forward with a 3 stone ring with ECs. Center .78 F VS1 and the sides are ~.5 F/G VS. I think it will turn out great; however, I''ve been kicking around the idea of sacrificing color and the 3 stones for a large solitaire bezeled ring in 18k YG.

My avatar is my wedding band which is very white with RBs, so I thought this RHR I''m creating could have a yellow theme (although I know a J color is not a fancy yellow).

Did you think the K Asscher in the YG could stand alone and look amazing, without comparing it to your whiter K RB?

I honestly would almost almost almost trade in my RB for that ASSCHER K. IT really blew me away, although it was very warm well with the help of all yellow gold surrounding it, Well it was also 2 carats, and the price tag was not bad at all, because it was a K. if you are going to do a solitaire K on its own, then my OH MY word. I would do it becuase if you like warm colors it would look amazing! on its own, if you were thinking of flanking it with other diamonds, i would nix that though, because then the yellowness i think will downplay the gorgeous diamond if it could stand alone, if that makes any sense. Is there a high end jewelry store near and around you, maybe they might carry one, on the off chance - wishful thinking? or call around? I''ve only seen this one in person, as other places don''t carry many items under an I let alone Asschers. But if you haven''t seen one in person, you maybe very shock if you get it all done and didnt'' know what to expect.

I think it would look beautiful, and I''d also be very keen to see it come to life!
Also, I''m no expert but that asscher looks pretty yummy.

I like the look of the Asscher. Nice proportions. Btw how big is this rock? If you can provide more details, or an ASET image our resident Asscher afficionado can chime in with more useful assessment. But I wouldn''t worry about the color. J is really a nice ivory white..shd sit pretty nicely in a YG setting. Don''t forget to post pics if you decide to go ahead.

The stone is 6.06 X 6.06 in size. The pic comes from JA, I could call it into WF for more eval. No IS or ASET yet, just kickin around the idea at this point.

Such a hard choice, I like the size of this asscher and the patterns, the color is what might get me. My center RB is right at 6.1mm in diameter and that''s the perfect size for me.

Tough choice.

What would you go for:

Choice #1: 3 stone EC ring with a center EC ~.75 carat F VS1 (5.6 X 4.8) with ~.5 carat F/G VS side ECs (4.8 X 4.1) in YG

OR

Choice #2: Solitaire Asscher with the 1.27 carat J VS2 (6.06 X 6.06) in YG

The price is the SAME.

Man, that''s a tough choice, seeing as you already have three stone aka, your avatar, i would love to see this soliatire. Are you ok with warm colors though? would you be ok with it?

To be honest, I haven''t seen warmer step cuts in YG. I bought my fiance a 1.5 carat Ideal I-SI1 RB and I can see a slight tint of warmth in about 5% of lighting conditions, otherwise it is very white and brilliant. It is set in platinum and the warmth isn''t all that pleasing to my eye. If you''re curious, here''s her ring. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/e-ring-collaboration-whiteflash-jamesallen.85564/

That being said, a well cut J Asscher in YG could look nice. I get much more coverage with the 3 stone and all the stones will be white, just sacrificing size and resolution of the steps.

Do you think they can send the stone to an appraiser for you to check it out first before you commit to the diamond and a custom setting? that way you know for sure that its what you want. I''d hate for you to be unhappy of the warmth if you say the tinge of warmth in your FI''s ring was not pleasing, and the Asscher will be much more warm in color especially adding yellow gold on top of it.

Maise, thanks for the link to the J color Asscher. I don''t think I will enjoy the J color body and face up color, so I''m going to stick with the higher colors. Thanks for the help.
