Hi,
I have been reading everyone else''s posts, and it seems that Asschers (generic or royal asschers) appear smaller than their true carart weight. My alternative would be a princess cut or a radiant. I am pretty positive though that I want an asscher cut stone. I always wished for a ring that was as close to 2 carats as possible. I don''t think that a 2 carat asscer is in my budget. So, I am concerned that a 1.5 carat stone, without a halo, might look to small. I am a rather petite person, however. I think my ring size is a 3.5. Also, does anyone have any idea how much a stone of this size and good quality will cost? If anyone has pictures of asschers that are under 2 carats, pls post them. I would love to see them. Also, what ring size are you. I would really appreciate some help in making the decision.

Well, as far as cost goes, the color and clarity that you prefer would have a huge impact so it is difficult to give you a range, not knowing what these are. I would suggest searching above so you can put in what you are looking for in a diamond. This should give you a very good idea of what''s out there.

every one knows what im gonna say:
assscher asscher asscher

I think a 1.5ct would bee awesome on a 3.5 size finger or a 7 or 10 for that matter :}

See the diamond in person before you buy it or get lots and lots of pictures.
Asschers have to graded by eye.
ASET scope pictures would be good too but they arent being offered yet.

Good quality is subjective. Some persons are more color-sensitive than others, and the same holds true for inclusions. If you want to maximize the size for your budget, consider I-J colors: they will be ''''white'''', meaning not icy white, but not really tinted either. Eye-clean SI1s are not common but can be found. Many VS2s are eyeclean and may represent the best compromise.
I have no clue about your budget, but I thought I could post a couple of interesting generic asschers.

okay, here are my thoughts. I have a 1.72 Emerald cut. I KNOW that if I had a 1.72 RB it would look bigger BUT I love the step cuts. I love that they are less common and look a mile deep. I think you need to decide if you LOVE asschers or LOVE the look of a 2 ct diamond. I will say that on my 4.5 finger it looks very large. People''s eyes pop out when they see my ring.

Thanks everyone for your help. I know that I do LOVE asschers. Tacori E-ring, can you post a pic of your ring on your hand. I like emeralds a lot too.

Oh, I forgot to mention too, that the settings I like are the Daniel K unionsquare split shank pave setting, or just the solitaire on a very thin micro pave eterminty band. Do you think these settings will make the stone appear smaller? Would just a plain platinum setting be better?

Hi!

MaryAlaina posted a really nice hand shot of her 1.7ct solitaire asscher in the thread entitiled "Asscher lovers..." in the SMTR forum. You can do a search...

(I''d post it here myself, but she doesn''t like others posting her pics...

Hi sslkrissi
Although the traditional Asscher has a higher crwon, and is therefore deeper ( in the high ''60''s or low ''70''s depth) there are nice looking Asscher ( non branded) stones with lower depths ( larger surface area)
We''ve had nice looking Asschers with depths in the low ''60''s.
One comes to mind which was 1.45- it had a depth of 58.2% and measured 6.76 x 6.71 x 3.91mm - fairly large for a 1.45 Asscher.

Here is my ring. Hope this helps. I think with your small fingers a 1.5 will look HUGE! Let us know what you decide.

You have teensy tiny fingers! While that will be a bummer for the setting as often a 4 or smaller means an increase in price, it also means your stone will appear larger on your hand then most. Judgeing by the fact that most jewelry stores have size 6 everything that may be the average. If you search fo asscher rings epople post theirs specs and their ring sizes. Strm help kaleigh find an asscher he may be willing to assist you as well. The cut of those stones is just as vital to its looks as with a RB. Good Luck!

My alternative would be a princess cut or a radiant.
Princess and radiants are also deep cuts, on average - so if asschers look small for weight, so do these.

Of course, none of these cuts has to have a small spread (=size for weight) and there are fine examples of each as large as rounds of the same weight would be. This, judging by surface.

Just my 0.2

Forget the 'average' - you do not have to put up with it

On another side...
Between those two diamonds, the second looks very nice to me. Since these pictures cannot tell the entire truth about a diamond (which would rarely be seen motionless, loose and so magnified) I would not dismiss either. The pictures are just good to make a decission based on personal taste - and this is entirely up to you. Taking the use of IdealScope for granted as described in the original website (ideal-scope.com) stone #2 is perfect - from the point of view of this tool, whatever that means.

David made me curious about his stone by now... knowing what sort of things he is providing online!
