Asscher folks chime in (please)!

Hi all;

Have been searching for an awesome asscher and have read *almost* all of the asscher threads to determine some good numbers, etc. Am leaning heavily towards the following, though it is a bit pricey:

1 carat
5.63 X 5.57 X 3.73mm
Depth: 67 (GIA) 66.7 (GCAL)
Table: 60 (GIA) 58 (GCAL)
Crown height: 14.1
Symmetry: excellent (1.01)
Polish: excellent
Girdle: slightly thick (2.3)
Culet: small (1.1)
Color: G
Clarity: IF
Fluo.: medium blue

This is a BN Signature Ideal (probably why the higher price), but these specs look good. I am willing to buy/look/return if necessary. Images below (sorry they are copied from lab certificate copies, so not good quality).

What do you guys think? Can anyone punch these numbers in to get any more info than I already have? Thanks a lot for the advice- this site & forum have been a tremendous help in learning about diamonds, and everyone is so generous with their time and opinions. Have a good one!

Whats the reason for the IF?
You could get a bigger diamond with a vs1 or vs2 for the same money.
If you just want an IF thats kewl as long as your informed :}

Yep, I know the IF is usually considered overkill, and might be a waste to some. I have to admit, I am a bit of a perfectionist, so yeah, I am considering sacrificing size. Clarity-rarity has a weird appeal to me. I guess we all have our hangups...

Love these asschers. Can''t get over them. Hope my girl feels the same.

from the picture in which the stone is badly tilted and the numbers Id say it has the potential to be a kicken asscher.
Id consider taking a chance on it since IF asschers arent known for being well cut and finding another as good is a long shot.
That''s as close as I can get from the info provided.
Are you going too see it before its set?

That is the plan; I''d like to buy it loose, make use of the 30-day return policy by taking a good, long look at it, and maybe take it to Atlanta to get a local jeweler to do an ideal scope and maybe a sarin on it.
Does this make sense? I am still a little behind the learning curve on using these methods, but I understand that the ideal scope should address light issues (reflection, leakage?). I talked with a Brown & Co. Jeweler in Atl. that said he would run it on all of his equipment for free if I wanted to.

What do you think? Worth the time? I am itching to get a great asscher for an e-ring, but certainly don''t want to rush into it. One of my big reasons for going with BN is a setting that only they have- I can''t get past it. This jewelry bug is dangerous. I am getting a faint glimmer of what your insania must be like. Id say go for it then, you seem too have done your homework and know whats up.
Dont really need any tools for asschers your eyes are fine.

pleasing outside shape
crown dont look too flat from the side
even patterns inside
10 mile deep look
fire fire fire in direct lighting and sunlight.

make sure BN is ok with sending it back for setting.

Attached is the setting. I must amend slightly by saying that I have found at least one *very* similar setting on another site, but none are exactly the same, with the combo of round and princess stones on the band.

I hope I can be a decent judge of this stone on sight- I''ve been looking at all of the asschers I can find at local stores (they actually have them at some only-local shops, go figure!). I might even take mine in to compare.

If I can take a decent picture or two (have been reading your tutorials on photos as well), I''ll post them. Might be a week or two, though.

You guys are great; I know so much more about diamonds than I did a month ago. This site blows others out of the water; will highly recommend to others.

Oh yeah, fyi, BN does take back their stones for setting, although they may try to talk you out of it.
