Asscher education, please!

Hello asscher educators!

Being a girl, I have looked at diamonds since I was 2 days old, but have not starting to seriously look for an engagement ring until a few months ago (which is 22 years after day 2).

Of every jewelry store window & case I''ve peered into, I have discovered that I adore asschers. One of my friends got one from her fiancee'' and it is just lovely! I would really like to have one, but I don''t feel comfortable making an online purchse without some education.

Could someone steer me in the right direction with what to look for? My "dream" ring would be a 1.5ct asscher in the Ritani Endless Love setting, if I can find a great stone. I have been to some jewelry stores and looked at what seemed to be a reasonable asscher, until I found out the price was $25,000+. Our budget is - $2000. can i still get a great stone for this price?

What should I look out for? I''ve heard clarity is important, but what is "good enough"?

Also, with dimensions- L/W ratio? depth? table? I''ve heard the terms, but I don''t really know what they mean and what is good vs. bad.

Help me, please, diamond gurus!

Do you look at "total depth" or "pavil depth" when considering depth? What''s the difference?

Hi Amanda. If it were me, I''d ask for the cert on this Daniel K asscher-- it''s a great price, and has a ton of potential. This pic doesn''t do this setting justice. If you can, do try it on at a Daniel K dealer. Everytime I put this thing on I don''t want to take it off.
