Hi guys, I''m new to the forums and am seeking advice. I don''t know much about diamonds or settings or anything of the sort...I''m a real newbie when it comes to this. Any help is appreciated!

Ok, I know for a fact that I want to get an Asscher shaped diamond, but I don''t know which setting is good for this type of diamond. I''ve heard that this type of style is not too popular (I guess compared to princess cuts, etc), so I haven''t really seen many settings with this type of diamond. Any suggestions?

Also, what do I need to look for on this particular type of diamond regarding the specs? Anything I should stay away from, or any dimensions from the spec sheets that should pay close attention to?

Again, this is my first post on here and I''m a total newbie when it comes to this, but I want to make sure I get the best deal out there and the best diamond for my girl. Thanks for the help!!!

specs don't tell you a lot you need pictures and a skilled vendor helps as as does video.
Jon at
www.goodoldgold.com is real good with them.
He will find 2 in your budget range and call them in for pictures for free.

The basics for the specs are:
As square as possible 1.04 or under l/w
table under 65%
depth under 70 unless it has a very high crown or a discount.
Crown height 10% or better and proportional to the depth
girdle med or thicker but v-thick can be an issue some times depending on depth.
The rest is all images and looking at the stone to check out the patterns.

Thank you for the link... I should of did a search to find that. Sorry about that...thanks again for the help!

Asschers really can't be judged by numbers, although they look good to me. I'll be anxiously awaiting pics/ASET/Idealscope when you get the pictures.

Is it a GOG diamond?

I don''t know if its GOG... the cert I saw said issued by EGL. Like i said, i''m totally new to this so I dont know what I''m looking at. hahaha...sorry. I need to research more, I reckon.

I was just wondering if it was a diamond from Good Old Gold, or another vendor.

Have you asked a vendor to call in this particular diamond yet?

Well, I wasn''t able to get any pictures, IS, ASET for that other stone I listed but I did get more Asscher stones to choose, from another vendor (WF). Anyone care to take a look at the numbers and let me know if any would be worth while to get pictures of?

The first 2 have already been called in and failed if it wasn''t those exact 2 it was the same cutter.

The last 2 have potential.
