I have a GIA report I would like opinions on..as I too am having a HARD time finding an asscher at all.
I haven''t actually seen an asscher in person, yet. I have a few jewelers trying to find them and bring them to their store for me. It doesn''t help when the people working at the jewelry stores know very little - nothing about asschers. And I live in a big city to boot.

For the Dealers on here, I would love help choosing the right Asscher cut diamond.

Am I trying to get the jeweler to email me a picture of this ring. Long story short, my bf and I bought a round diamond in St. Maarten in 2006 which my brother bought from us for his now wife. Beautiful ring. Anyway, I''ve been emailing them for a ring and this is what he came back with. And the ring is in NY .. so I could take a trip to NY and see it, if they have more than one for me to compare. Make it worth my while.

I wish the specs were VERY good and not just good and I''m not happy with the colour.. on that note the price tag on this is $6,000US.

Birks is a Royal Asscher dealer and I''ve contacted them.. awaiting to hear back on their findings.
I like both cuts.

GIA Report -Square Cut Emerald

What do you think!? I will post a pic if and when I get one.

Where did you ladies buy your asschers? If anyone could share their specs and price tags would help me out when choosing/buying. I understand its a personal thing, but even just where and specs would be great! :)

I''ve seen so many amazing asschers on this site and am always curious where you found such amazing diamonds.

Thanks very much!!

Table 74%
Girdle Extremely Thin

No chance of it being a good one.
You could land a 747 on that table.

65% table tops
depth under 70 unless it has a very high crown and small table.
Crown height well over 10%
med girdle or thicker.

haha.. ya.. that''s what I thought, I had to ask anyway.

I''ve looked through here for the right spec of an Asscher, so I should have known. I have those specs sent to my email and I look at it often, but to get a reply to that GIA report, just validates that this site is VERY useful!

I''ll tell that jeweler to keep digging.

Thank you!!

What about this ring?

the asscher looks nice, table is a hair big but the crown height looks ok.
J is going to show some color.
price is good the diamond by itself would be around $5250

Thanks for checking out that ring.

I would like to go no lower than H, and seeing how that picture doesn''t show any sign of colour (to me) seems like it could be an option.

I''ve read that you recommend Good Old Gold, so I''ll contact them. Hopefully, they''ll find something for me :D

Thanks again!!

Pictures are not a reliable way to judge diamond color.

I realize a selection of asschers is not easy to find but you really need to see them in person to determine your color comfort zone.

Asschers show body color more than diamonds with smaller facets like rounds, princess, radiants, pears etc.
Even though asschers are hard to find you may locally find a selection of emerald cut diamonds; they also show body color like asschers do.

Item Code

23950032

17781457

by the numbers looks like they might be worth calling in.
See if they can get more information before paying to call them in.

Thanks for replying so quickly!!

The stone for Item Code 23950032 shows a three step.. Is that better than the Item Code 23749154? If I am trying to find one that would match an asscher? However, I do love both SCE and RA.

The one jeweler told me there isnt a big difference between excellent and very good symmetry and polish. Though to me, I would think having excellent would be better than very good.

Item Code 17781457 seemed like a great one, but it was more the square emerald.

I was told he can bring them in, and if I dont buy it, I pay for the shipping cost back to wherever it came from.

I asked to see pictures before it even gets shipped to ''them'' but I was told the jewelers rarely have camera to take pictures.

I duno what to do!! I''d love to see these diamonds, but at what cost, I have no clue.

Thanks again for the comments!
