Hi all,

I''m new to the forum and have been trying to educate myself on diamonds, specifically Assher cuts. I''ve seen in previous posts where frequent posters have helped newbies like myself by posting specific stats to search for. I''d like to have an Asscher for my e-ring, probably between .75 and 1.15 carats. Can you all help? I''m afraid I''m overwhelmed with all there is to know about diamonds, especially the Asscher!

Some of you have beautiful Asschers and I''d like to join the club!

Thank you!

The typical guidelines are:

depth 65%-75% (the price should be discounted after 70%)
Table in the high 50% very low 60% range
table height 10%-15% (I think anything above 10% is good)

HOWEVER, asschers canNOT be judged by numbers. You will need pics. A magnified pic, idealscope image, and ASET if possible.

What is most important is if YOU love it, so keep that in mind when looking.

James Allen and Good Old Gold would be great places to look to start.

ETA: Step cuts show color and inclusions more than other cuts. Personally, I would stay above H for color and VS2 or clarity, although katamari does have a beautiful eyeclean SI1.

Be specific about your budget for a stone and you''ll probably get some suggestions if your budget and stone-size are in line with each other.

Well, my bf hasn''t given me a specific range, but I would assume around $5000-$6000 would be about right. I''ve already eyed a setting I like, and it''s rather inexpensive. Ideally I''d like around a 1 carat, but I know I''ll have to get great clarity since the Asscher will show more inclusions, and that may mean something closer to .75.

He''s sold on a princess cut, but I think Asscher''s are very different and unique.

The numbers are just a place to start nothing more.
You can not buy with just numbers.

depth under 70 without a discount unless its an antique style stone with a very small table and very high crown.
table under 65
crown height over 10%
square, I like to stay under ~1.03 l/w ratio maybe 1.04 depending on size with closer to 1 being better.

The rest is all pictures and or videos if buying online.
H/VS2 is a good place to start on a rare occasion an eyeclean si1 pops up but when paying to have a stone called in they aren''t good bets.

Hi Katrina. I totally am loving this one. I pointed it out to someone else this week, but it is still available, so they must not have been feeling it. I just think it is to die for and totally worth getting an ASET of so long as it is in your budget.
