Hello everyone. another long time lurker, who''s reached the point to begin thinking about getting an engagement ring. I was curious if anyone has mpressions or thoughts on where to go to look at engagment rings in the Asheville, NC area? I''m particularly curious about jewels that dance and wick and greene? I''d love to hear if anyone has any experience with these or other stores, or recommendations in general. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks from a newbie!

bumpity bump....

anyone? Is north carolina the bane of the diamond business? Would it have helped if I spelled Asheville correctly?

just kidding! if anyone has any input, I''d love to hear it.

I''m sorry, I have no idea about what is in that area. Hopefully someone who lives in your area will chime in. Have you considered shopping online? Your money will go farther and there is actually a better selection of high quality stones. Check out whiteflash.com, jamesallen.com, goodoldgold.com.

I am from NC and am familiar with Asheville and the other cities across the state. That said, I would use NC stores only for looking. If you want to get the best stone/setting, use Whiteflash, James Allen, GOG or ERD.

Have recently shopped for a ring and went the online route. There''s no comparison in terms of expertise and value for your money. I myself am also a longtime lurker here and recently registered simply to answer another poster''s question. However, I learned all I needed to know to make the best purchase by reading these forums.

Have been on the internet since its nascent days. The people who post here and who will help you...well, you just won''t find better people elsewhere on the web, much less in a BM store.

I''m also from NC, but we bought my diamond for an anniversary ring from Good Old Gold and later bought diamonds from WhiteFlash for earrings. The diamonds are TOP cut quality and much better priced than I found in the Charlotte area. (I live somewhere between Asheville and Charlotte.) I really did try to buy locally, but even the best jewelers simply did not have the selection I found at the two jewelers above. Not to mention the prices were higher for lower quality stones locally. They both have beautiful settings as well.

Thanks....maybe after looking more I''ll muster up the courage to try online. I''m in Boston, but was thinking more about Asheville because I''m down there often and it seemed like I might be less likely to get taken advantage of. The whole process is scary!

Thanks all for your input. it''s truly appreciated. I''ll check out the sites.
