I have a friend who can't wear her grandmother's wedding ring anymore because of arthritis. Is there a solution for this? Can she have a latch installed? Is there a particular jeweler that you would recommend over another for this job??

She could try sizing up and putting sizing beads in the ring so that they can make it past the knuckles but not spin on the finger.

My MIL has the latch shank. She had to get it due to arthritis. Then for some reason, many years later, her knuckle on that finger went down in size. Now she has to wear a smaller ring on top of her ER or it might fall off. Arthritis can be tricky that way. She was very happy with her latch system. You can barely even tell it's there. Edit: to be clear, she had to reshank the ring WITH the latch system. It's not something that could just be added. It essentially IS the entire shank of her ring.
