im so confused on this one.

ROUND 1.8 HVS2 (no fl) vs 2.ct HVS2 (st fl) for the $16000 vs $17000

Whats the deal??? Everyone told me stay away from anything that has medium or strong flourescence but faint is okay. But now revcently 2 very trusted and reputed dealers told me that the strong fl wont make any diff to appearance unless at a club or area with lots of black lights (that makes sense)

For girls size matters in this case so should I go for the 2 ct since price is attractive due to florescence?

She doesnt plan on ever selling the ring as it will hold sentimental value so its not necessarily an investment.

Thoughts please?

You really havent given us enough information on the stones for us to say yay or nay on either one.

Can you post the table, depth, crown and pavilion angles from the stones? Who are graded by? GIa? AGS?

Strong fluor usually isnt a problem. Just have to make sure it doesn't turn oily in strong sun which is pretty rare.

They are identical specs.

57 table / 62.3 depth

medium girdle

crown angle 34.5 and pavilion 40.8

my question isnt about which stone is better. im asking strictly about flourescence in a stone which causes a huge diff in price

let me rephrase my question.

WHEN LOOKING AT 2 IDENTICAL GIA "H" COLOR STONES OF SAME WEIGHT AND SPECS BUT DIFFERING ONLY IN FLOURESCENCE (FAINT VS MEDIUM OR STRONG) , is it okay to get the one with strong florescence if price is a factor? what impact does it have and does it really make much of a difference ? if the answer is yes, then for the same price of the faint fl stone, should i get a bigger stone with strong flouresence?

I'm usually one to say save the money, but for only $1000 more I say go for it. Does the vendor have a return policy? If so, you can examine it in all lights and if you notice any haziness you can send it back. But, if the vendor says it does not affect it (and they are reputable) I'd trust them.

This stone has none but looks very blue under the sun..

Definitely go for the fluorescence. After owning a diamond with florescence, I cannot imagine not owning one with it. It is such a neat quality. Plus for you, you will get the additional size.

If you like the blue then its good, why people pay millions for blue diamonds but then avoid blue florescence...??

i love blue fluor as well :)
just make sure its not hazy and ull get a good deal
