I admit it.
I'm not.
Zillions of people are.

What is the appeal?
What do you feel when you read People Magazine or watch those shows about Hollywood elites?

Not at all. Boring lot of people.

I find a few celebs intriguing, but I don''t watch celebrity shows or buy magazines for celebrity gossip.

Although I do love Johnny Depp.

The psychologist in me finds them intruiging for sure! :)

Interesting people who happen to become celebrities... yes - I like Stephen Fry for example and find him interesting.

Random actors/pop stars/reality TV people - nope, no interest at all. I occasionaally flick through a magazine in the doctor''s waiting room and honestly I can only name about 10% of the people in there.

The saddest thing is when you hear school kids whose main ambition is to be on X Factor or Big Brother... so depressing!

Not really. Some of them seem to be real jerks.

I used to be very interested when I was a teen. I thought the Hollywood life seemed so glamorous. The clothes, cars, money, fame. Now as I''ve aged, I see it all as being quite empty and dull. I still enjoy looking at photos to see some of the gowns and jewels, but that''s about it.

I love reading these mags on a plane, they make the time pass quickly. I have one friend who is a celeb and love following him.

Have another friend who writes for the National Enquirer. I love reading what he writes... We were busting on him when he began, like oh come on, The National Enquirer?? He's got us all beat and then some....

Some of the shenanigans drive me bonkers. But, I like seeing what they''re wearing and their jewelry and hairstyles.

And Johnny Depp makes my toes curl, so..yeah, if it''s about him, I''ll watch or read anything.

Not even for one second. I truly do not care at allllll.

nope, don''t watch movies or much tv. i couldn''t tell tom hanks and tom cruise apart if my life depended on it, that stuff just doesn''t interest me as much as people i know.

I used to be in my younger days. Now I can barely track my work projects. But I must admit, some of celebrities are interesting, like Susan Sarandon and her ex Tim Robbins who at least are passionate about some worthy causes. Some of celebrities are, definitely, bright, like Sandra Bullock - I heard her pre-Oscar interview, she came across as a smart, eloquent woman. Some are simply good role model like Michelle Pfeiffer. Some of them at least are trying to do something positive, to be good role models like Angelina Jolie who adopted several kids (although you always wonder how a busy mother working on her career can find time for these kids).

As to negative publicity, who slept with whom, who cheated on whom, how many women someone slept with, who was caught drinking, which drugs someone used, what not - it is so boring. It is not even negative PR anymore, because you forget or confuse a star who was caught on heroin with the one who was caught doing crack. Just the same old stories.

The smartest of celebrities keep low profile so, unfortunately, you can not find out much about them, unless someone mentions that Julia Roberts has silver plumbs in her mouth that once had to be photoshopped, but sorry if there is noting else that they can tell us about Julia Roberts ...then she is smartest of them all!

I never know who they are. Many of them look the same to me if I flick through a celebrity gossip magazine in the dentist's office. Granted, I'm truly egocentric, but I find it impossible to care about someone I've never actually interacted with, so celebrities are nothing to do with me.

I have certainly learned more about celebrities from PS than anywhere else though - I thought Tiger Woods played tennis or something before he had an affair. Turns out it was golf. You learn something everyday. Oh, and someone called Lindsay Lohan got a bangle from Whiteflash. Not totally sure who she is / what she's famous for, but I'm sure I'd like her bangle.

nope.

just their bling.

Not in the least. I just don''t think there is anything special about being famous. And, like others have said, some of them are not that nice. From first hand experience, Jennifer Lopez is a total b. On the other end of the spectrum, Beyonce happens to be a very nice lady, even though I think she needs to take a break and have some kids or read some books. As long as she doesn''t put out another CD . . .

I glanced through one of those mags recently... some of those celebs I don''t even know who they are!
I do like seeing the glamorous fashion, and the side by side pics of celebs wearing the same outfits.

A friend of mine catered a party for Patti Labelle. My friend spilled something down the front of her shirt, and Patti was super nice, and let her change in her bedroom. And told her to help herself to any bottle of perfume from her massive collection.

Actors. I like actors. I like them to the degree that they are artists and give inspired performances. I like singers to the degree that they can actually sing. (Meaning that when I''ve got my headphones in, I don''t give a rat''s a** how shocking, innovative, attractive they are. Can they SING?) So, in that respect, yes, I''m interested in them - as in, I enjoy a bit of background bio on them, or like to hear/read interviews. But if the question is do I enjoy following a famous person''s (as opposed to a person who is talented and has fame because of it - I make the distinction) personal life, then a big fat no, regardless of what made them famous. Alas, because of the daily innundation of mostly fluff information available today and slamming in your face whether you like it or not (just the Google News homepage gives me more headline info than I can reasonably process), I find out more of the details than I really want to know (see the Tiger Woods brouhaha - talk about a waste of time)

Following the twists and turns of my very own personal life, or being there to be an ear to the twists of the lives of my personal friends, is so much more engrossing to me.

I like reading People every once in a while, and I like to know what''s going on in general. I don''t check out TMZ, E! Online, etc. though -- I don''t care THAT much.

Only their bling but this is not what gossip writers cater too.

In general, no.

But I am quite interested in *looking* at a few key celebrity specimens. Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, and Andy Garcia come to mind. Do I care about their personal lives? Not at all, as long as I can happily ogle them from afar.

I couldn''t care less what they get up to. I do like to look at the more attractive specimens such as Andy Garcia, Mr Clooney etc.

Oh and I do enjoy to see what they are wearing as I am a clothes/make up/handbag/jewellery addict!

Love seeing their diamonds too!

I'll admit that sometimes I am. I'll go through periods where I'll check the celeb gossip and read what's going on, or follow a particular celeb, but then I'll forget about it for a while. Even when I do feel like following celebrities, I never get further than knowing generally what's going on - I'm not logging on to 5 blogs a day or anything.

I have so little drama in my life that sometimes it's fun to read about other people's drama. This is the same reason that I watch shows like The Real World

You know, as much of a rep. that the NE has, it *has* been right about a lot of things lately.

I forgot to mention that the one thing I HATE is when people become famous for who their family is, without doing much themselves. These people include Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, etc.

I also hate it when certain people become a celebrity based solely on their train wreck of a life (the Gosselin''s, for example).

So those people, no, I don''t care about following. Actors and others who have actually contributed to something, sure, it''s fun to read about occasionally.

Sometimes I am. I go through phases. Sometimes it''s fun to read about them/hear about them/look at pictures. I''m also more interested in who is expecting, looking at pictures of their cute kids, and their bling. I''ll read people.com and look at pictures on a celebrity moms blog every once in awhile. I don''t look at any of the other websites.

i can only reconize a few of them.

I don''t... I''m extremely disinterested in pop culture (movies, music, reality shows, celebrities) in general. A few weeks back I went to my husband and asked, "who''s this Lady Gaga everyone is talking about?" He just laughed at me and shook his head.

I''m way too involved in sports and athletes, though. I don''t care who is dating who, but I follow teams, trades, allegations of steroids and scandal... so I definitely have vices.

He''s not a big celeb. But will give you a hint. He''s on the show The new adventures of old Christine. He was a riot in college, always knew he''d make it. But it took a long time.
In movies he always plays an FBI agent or a cop. Funny how that works.

Guess who his wife is???
