Are you having a flower girl? If so, is she wearing white? Is she wearing the same color as the bridesmaids? Is she wearing a pretty dress that can be re-worn to another occasion? Do the shoes have to be the same color as the dress? Do they wear anything in their hair or does it depend on the girl (and whether she is likely to yank it out)?

I am clueless. I may have FOUR flowergirls and I need to let their parents know my preferences. And they are both on VERRRRRY tight budgets.

i'm not having a flower girl, but if they are really on a budget i bet that you could find cute, appropriate dresses for the girls at a department store. when is your wedding? most stores have holiday and easter dress selections for a good few months and i'm sure there are some simple ones that are white or that you could add a colored sash to (or get a colored dress that you could add a white sash to).

as for the rules about FG dress code, i don't think that there really are any. i think a lot of them are white, but most of them seem to have at least a little color. and put them in little white ballet slippers! (payless has them) no need to get fancy new white shoes if the parents don't want to buy them. as for things in their hair, i don't think it's necessary (i usually find FG's much cuter when they aren't dressed to mimic the bride w/ a veil or tiara or something). lots of people do flower wreaths, but those might get expensive. you could always do a barrette with little fake flowers across it or something if you really wanted them to have some matching element!

what are your wedding colors?

I am having only flower girls. We were going to have no wedding party at all because the wedding is so small, but my friends have little girls and I thought it would be cute to have all of them - so, four flower girls.

They are wearing this dress but in a cranberry color (December wedding). I found that there were a lot more affordable options if you go with a white dress for the girls, but we wanted to use the opportunity to add some color to the wedding.

One flower girl. I bought this Pink Dress, but it didn't fit. So I need to buy a larger size. Oh well no sale price on the larger size! So I am either going to split the cost with them or find a different dress. But this is the style I want.

ETA: Didn't answer all of your questions! I meant one flower girl for me, by the way, I wasn't ordering you only to have one. Haha.

Anyway, I had the florist quote me the price for one of the headpieces made up of mostly hypernicum(sp) berries and wax flowers. Also, I plan on having her carry a pomander as opposed to a basket at this point.

What is a pomander? (I''m trying to figure out what to have my girls carry.)

It''s also called a kissing ball. Let me find a pic, one sec!

<---- she is going to be a flower girl at my sister''s wedding next summer. We are getting her an ivory dress (my sister''s wedding dress is ivory) and then she will have a sash the same color as the BM dresses. I am sure she will never wear it again but that''s okay. Not like she goes to that many formal events anyways. Haven''t worked out the shoes or hair yet but I do think it would look so cute if she carried a kissing ball (she''ll still be too young to scatter petals).

I think this is someone from PS''s wedding so sorry I am stealing your wedding pic! But here is what one looks like. I want it to be all pink pretty much.

I had kissing balls down my aisle too. Love the look!

My flower girl wore a white dress, and we had the seamstress who did the bridesmaids' dresses make a sash for her out of the same green fabric. My aunt (the flower girl's mother) went out and found a pretty, simple white dress that was perfect and not terribly expensive (I think it was actually a first communion dress, but not one of the big poufy organza and satin ones).

My cousin carried a kissing ball, and it was adorable. She had a simple wreath of baby's breath in her hair.

At my SIL's wedding last year, my daughters wore very pretty (but shockingly expensive) ivory dresses with ivory hairbands and carried little bird's nests filled with rose petals that they sprinkled down the aisle.

I have two flower girls :) They are also carrying the pomanders (so cute that they are called kissing balls!). We actually got their little red and brown dresses at the end of last season at Macy''s for like 25$ each! They are red, with little brown, yellow and green embroidered flowers on them. Too cute, and too perfect for my fall wedding.

For some reason I just didn''t want them in white looking like little brides - they are my baby cousins and I wanted them to look like the little cuties they are :)

Sorry I don''t have a pic....

I only had flowergirls - four of them!

I put them all in lavender coloured cotton dresses (my mother made them). I wanted them to have something pretty and summery that wouldn''t be too hot, would be easy to move in and that they could all wear again.

They wore gold or ivory ballet shoes, and I made wreaths for their hair from antique victorian velvet flowers and leaves.

I gave them silver charm bracelets as gifts and my father made them each a necklace from the seed pearls that were left over from my dress.

Here''s a pic...

Here's a picture of the eldest one - she's nearly 12.

As you can see in the previous picture some of them handles their wreaths better than others!

Ages were: 3, 7 and 9

Pandora, just adorable! Mizmy thanks, GREAT ideas. I definitely want them to carry kissing balls.

My colors are sage green, chocolate brown, white and fuschia. Here is a rough estimation of what I am thinking the bridal party might look like (courtesy of Dress my Wedding from the David's Bridal website, a great tool!). http://www.davidsbridal.com/dyw/details_public.jsp?w=ACFLOHBAAB&v=FADMLEDAAA

There are only three flowergirls, I forgot one of the girls is too young (will barely be 3).

Do you think I should dress the flowergirls in something other than white to add more color?

The easiest and cheapest thing would tell the moms to buy inexpensive but pretty short white dresses and I can acquire the sashes -- I think I read a thread on a cheap source for sashes on this site some time back. They can also do the inexpensive white ballet shoes. I don't care if all the dresses match, as long as they are white and a fabric other than cotton. Maybe nothing for the hair, I like that idea of keeping it simple. It's a simple wedding.

Any additional thoughts/opinions/suggestions welcome!

David''s bridal has sashes...I think they are $8 a piece. A beaded one is $12. Lots of different colors.

My sister and I got married within a year of each other... We had the same flower girl for both weddings... To my sister''s wedding, she wore white... To mine, she wore a light pink dress to match the bridesmaids...

here''s her with the white dress... 2.5 years old...

We’re not having a bridal party but we will have a flower girl. My cousin was my mom’s flower girl and I want her daughter to be mine. My mom has an adorable picture with my cousin, I plan to pose the same way with her daughter and get it framed with both pictures side by side.

Anyway, my cousin wore a white communion dress with a hat. She looked almost identical to my mom. I plan on finding a dress for her communion style. I haven’t picked the dress yet as its too early to but I was thinking something similar to this with the sash in a dark red. She can change after as I would imagine this would be a pain for her to wear, not to mention that she will only be 3 by then so good luck to me with keeping her nice and comfy in a big ole dress LOL
