Many thanks to Pricescopers and the plethora of information available to a regular gal like me!!

So folks - what''s the deal with blue fluorescense? Is it a good or bad thing? Is it a consumer preference?

I assumed that ''none'' was the most preferred or rather one would tried to look for a diamond that didn''t have any. But how does this affect the overall look and performance of a stone?

Just wondering!

Stones w/ med blue or stronger fl seem to trend cheaper. Personally, I think if a diamond kinda shimmered a little blue in daylight would be kinda neat.

Teach me!!! I''m all ears!

I love strong or even v-strong as long as it isnt an over-blue, but really it dont matter too me much.
Its down the list of things I look for pretty far.
It might help some J and I stones face up a little better but its like 1 choco-chip in a cookie with a bunch of others, it helps, but not being well cut its like a cookie with no sugar and no chocolate and burned.

My preference is med to strong blue as long as the stone isn''t milky. I love the effect it has on a diamond and it is so fun to play with a black light. I don''t understand why fluorescence is supposed to be bad.

i dunno either! I think the blue is really cool & hypnotizing~ when you say ''milky'' what does that mean?

thanks for the input all of you! So I suppose it is a matter of preference....

It is a matter of preference and I like that having some fluorescence causes the price to go down, too! Sometimes when the fluorescence is too strong it causes the stone to have an oily or milky appearance that you can see. Maybe Storm can explain it better.
