I was just looking at the Knot''s wedding checklist and one of the things I apparently need to get done RIGHT NOW is a packet of info. for OOT guests. Have you done this or are you planning to? I don''t mean welcome bags or favors, etc., but a letter with info. on the hotel, the area, and maybe some touristy brochures.

I was thinking of having this stuff be in the welcome bags which guests will get once they arrive. I guess it does make sense to send some stuff out ahead of time, if people are planning on making a vacation out of their stay. We''re getting married in a touristy beach town.

I am not making anything for OOT guests, but sending info out sounds like a really good idea. None of my guests are new to the area, many have been coming here for years, so I don''t feel the need, but I would if they were new to the area.

My mother and I went to the local tourist information place where they have a really good free booklet on the local area.

I got my mother to ask them for 50 copies, meanwhile I swiped another 50 from the leaflet stand... they''re free, but I did feel a bit of a weirdo removing so many!

Anyway, we''re putting one in the envelope with the invitations to everyone, and I''ve put some info up on the website.

Zoe, I sent out a file with local hotels, airline and airport info., local time zone, maps, things like what temperature to expect at that time of the year, etc. It took me a lot of work, but I don''t think even one person looked at it! But, I''m glad I did it, I know I would have appreciated something like that.

I did this. I actually included a list of tourist attractions with the invites. My mom went to AAA and got maps to put in the OOT bags. I can''t remember but I might have put a copy of local attractions in that too. I think people likes it b/c WI is not exactly on everyone''s MUST visit list.

I did this as well--I put a bunch of info. abut my favorite things to do in Boston as well as places to visit on the cape and islands with directions, maps, bus schedules, ferry schedules blah blah blah. It took me FOREVER. I don''t think a single person used them. My advice would be to include some local info. if you want, but don''t spend a ton of time on it.

I didn''t send them out ahead of time, but we did have brochures and maps and such in the rooms inside the goodie bags. I did put some info on our website beforehand, and I emailed the map I had made from weddingmapper to as many people that I had emails for.

People used the map and the restaurant list, but that''s really about it.

Thanks everyone! We do have lots of brochures here, ready to be put into something, whether it''s a welcome bag or another envelope to mail. So I think I''ll look through them and see which one(s) might be helpful to have ahead of time. Once we start getting reply cards back, I''ll go ahead and mail off some of the information to those who are coming for the weekend.

I think it would depend on your guests...even though we have a ton of people coming from OOT, most grew up in the area we are having our wedding, so they really already know what do to/where to go. I just included the usual hotel/airline/directions info. on an insert with our invitations.
