BLISS I have to say, I LOVE your collection    btw we need some more M pics when you have a second  pls

Skiiiiippppyyyy!!!!! Mama of Precious Twin Angels!!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: I love YOUR posts and pics! Your soul just shines through and is so beautiful! I will have to post but I feel so guilty posting in the FHH forum when I don't contribute as much as the other amazing moms...because I'm so overwhelmed with the baby! I don't know how you and the other fantastic moms do it! I promise to do it soon, though!!!!!! Ohhhhh, congrats on your healthy amazing boys. You sound over the moon. Many many blessings to all new mamas! :appl:  :appl: All the PS babies are so beautiful, it's craaazy!

Definitely a wearer. I'd much rather have a few really nice pieces that I love than a handful of items that just sit in my jewelry box. Of course, this is hypothetical, b/c I don't have the luxury of having an unlimited bling budget. If I did, there might be a few other things I could be "convinced" to buy! ;))

I'm a wearer. I've had the same gold necklace on (without ever taking it off) for almost 8 years.
My e-ring stone is upgradable through BGD, but I intend to keep the same ring forever.
I'm working on building a stack of ruby/diamond rings. I have 4 so far. I don't wear them everyday, but I see them as being wearable in the long term and I can always add more to the stack.
Even if I lust over a piece of jewelry, I really have to ask myself "would I wear this?"...the answer is usually "no."

I was a wearer for many years when I was younger. I had only a few nice pieces. After discovering PS, and having a bit more money now that the kids are grown, I have become a collector.

I love looking at my collection, and I rotate wearing my pieces. Some pieces are summer pieces, since they look best when there is lots of daylight, short sleeves, lighter colored clothing and outdoor activities. Soon I will be wearing my winter pieces, that fit under winter gloves, look good in artificial lights and compliment my darker clothing colors. :))

I second that request.

Urghh!! I typed out a long post and then lost it!!!

Well, I'm an in-between. I mean I wear most of my jewellery, esp the larger pieces and rotate them on a regular basis. It is a bit of a pain, like others have said, having to go to the bank vault though.

My collection used to also consist of smaller pieces which I gave away to nieces and sisters and friends. Last few times I visited them, nobody was wearing what I'd given them. My sis even said it was bothersome to put on earrings in the morning, so the two pairs of studs I gave her just sit around in a bowl collecting dust! I don't even want to know what happened to the other stuff I gave away. So now I'd rather keep what I can't sell and don't wear in the safe; at least once in a while I can take them out and admire them!

I've also been very good this year about buying on impulse (apart from the one bracelet which I'm getting tons of mileage out of - so that was *def* a good buy). I've made a couple of blunders on resetting earrings - but thankfully it wasn't tons of money.

So, I'd like to become more of a wearer than a collector.

I'm a wearer... I'm not really even interested in owning more than I would wear at one time.

......... unless I got that daisy ring! I might have to break my one finger per hand rule or stack my 3 stone (that I get in 4 days!!!) with my solitaire and other bands haha

I'm both a wearer and a collector. I have pieces I wear all the time and I have pieces that I've only worn for special occasions. I have white gold, yellow gold and platinum. I have traditional, modern and vintage. I like having a little bit of everything and being able to decide what I want to wear. It doesn't bother me one bit, having things locked away that I only wear every now and then. That's what bank vaults are for. Hey, if there weren't serious collectors out there, some of us wouldn't be looking forward to seeing Dame Elizabeth Taylor's collection on display in December!

For me, it's never been about "the high" of doing a project. I don't get a rush or a thrill that dies once a project is completed. That idea is really foreign to me. I just have a very genuine love for gemstones and jewelry. I really wish I could do this for a living. I'd never want to go home. To me the whole thing is a phenomena. I think that's why I enjoyed the Diamond Essentials course so much at GIA. Knowing how much earth had to be moved to find one piece of gem quality diamond rough that will create a .25 to .30 pt. stone, and what a cutter is able to do when he transforms this ugly, dirty rock into something so pure and beautiful. I sometimes look at my trays of diamond and gemstone jewelry and think what a journey each one of those little stones has taken to make it to this piece of jewelry. I have a real appreciation for the whole process. I just love it, every bit of it.

I'm intrinsically a wearer, but now that I am into colored stones, I could see it being a collection thing over time... because really I won't be able to manage always wearing so many items. I am trying not to 'collect' so many that I would never wear things though because that just goes against my grain... and I don't wear a ton of jewelry anyway, so I don't see myself having like 5 pieces on me at any given time.

Both?

I have a few pieces that don't get changed out (OMC diamond studs) my wedding band and I have a LOT of "erings" that do get changed out. Since my fingers have become swollen though, I haven't changed my ering (tranny diamond) out at all.

I have too much love for a variety of colors and different gemstones to stick to just one. I kinda feel like I have to "collect" in that regard.

So far I collect in regards to solitaire rings and necklaces, and wear in terms of earrings and wedding band.

By this definition I'm 100% a collector, but I wear my pieces too! I just value variety in my collection. I'd rather have a huge diverse collection of small and relatively inexpensive pieces than a few large/expensive pieces that are top quality. I keep them in sets (earrings/necklace/ring) and rotate them, usually matching them to my clothes or shoes. I hardly ever sell anything, and when I do, it's my pre-PS mall store stuff that I'm scrapping for the gold.

Thread jacking for a few quick seconds. Yenny, do you have a SMTB thread for the beauty in your avatar? I haven't been around all that much this year but I know you were selling your cushion to make something different. All I can say is WOW!

I'm definitely a wearer. I can't stand jewelry laying around that I don't wear.

thanks dear Bliss!!! Yay, looking forward to seeing your beautiful baby!!! all the babies are so beautiful, I soooo agree!

Ops I forgot to answer DD's question. I guess kind of both. Lately I haven't because I scratched one of the babies w/my diamond ring so I doubt I will wear them till they are a bit older. We did inherit sort of some items; we actually had to buy out a family members share in the items. They were family treasures so we couldn't sell them but we don't wear them so I guess collector? I don't know? I really do enjoy wearing stuff rather than collecting it unless it is really special where I don't want to wear it and be able to pass it down in the future.

I'm a wearer. Granted, I have some pieces I generally only wear on special occasions, they still get worn!

I am both. I love to collect jewelry and I try to wear it too. If I find a piece in my armoire that I haven't worn in a while, I will plan my next outfit so I can wear it. I don't have very much costume. My cheaper stuff is in silver but with natural gems. Stuff that is outdated I still save because eventually it will be a big thing again and maybe my grandkids will love it. That is if I ever have any.

I am mostly a wearer. About 98% of the time I wear either wg hoops or diamond studs, either my Roberto Coin tiny cross or my BG milgrain bezel pendant, my GOG/Leon e-ring with the Legacy band, and a Longines watch. If I don't want to wear my wedding set somewhere, I just wear my Memoire band.

I do have some white and Tahitian pearl studs and pendants, strand of white pearls, diamond and pearl bracelet, 4 ct. diamond tennis bracelet, diamond Ebel watch and another Longines, a Van Craeynest band, and some other odds and ends that I only wear on special occasions. I sold all my old yellow gold pieces other than a few sentimental items.

I don't really like to wear a ring on my right hand, so any other rings I buy would probably be worn as alternates to my wedding set. I really don't want much more since I know I wear my staples all the time, but I do have a love for AV stones and OEC/OMC's as well as Van Craeynest, so I can see that as the most likely thing I'd consider adding. Sometimes I think about selling my current H&A diamond and getting a smaller H&A and also an AVC!!!! Hard to decide, though, because I do love my current diamond!

Oh, and WOW Dreamer!!! Congrats on buying Gypsy's beautiful ring!!! I'd say that you've come out well on your jewelry changes!!!

I started out as a wearer but my jewellery passion got a bit out of control and I amassed too many pieces and became a collector. :cheeky: Example....my strands of tahitian pearls...

I'm definitely a wearer. The only duplicate I have is two bracelets - one an oval bangle from HOF and the other a five carat diamond tennis bracelet. Other than that, all of my jewelry - ering/wedding band, five stone, earrings and pendant are worn daily. I would rather spend my money on several really stellar pieces than have several of each that I couldn't possibly wear all the time. I would never for instance have several colored stone rings for different outfits or whatever - I'd always be trying to pick a favorite!

It's an interesting question though and interesting to hear other folk's points of view. Once I got into diamond jewelry, I never bought any more costume jewelry although I have a whole jewelry box full of it! I just love my diamonds and consider them my signature pieces. Different strokes for different folks though and I love seeing everyone else's choices!
