I want to wrap my hands around the cups, that's a nice feeling, but I don't need them full since the drink goes cold and I just end up with stale re-heated coffee. Yes to big, chunky mugs!
I drink/eat out of huge cappuccino cups the size of a soup bowl (have one at work, and one at home). I also have a Starbucks mug that is about the equivalent of 16 oz.
I love mugs, not teacups. They're too small. On the other hand though, I'm not a huge fan of those giant mugs that became popular when "Friends" was on. Those are a little too cumbersome. Just give me a plain old mug and I'm good.
When we purchased our last set of dishes, I did not buy the matching coffee cups and saucers. We have a nice collection of coffee mugs from various pottery artists, as gifts from friends, and from our travels, so I wanted to use these instead. I am perfectly happy with our mugs, and have never missed the matching coffee cups.
My coffee mug at work is 16 ounces. I drink two of those in the first hour of work. If I had to use the regular sized cups, I wouldn't get anything done, I'd be running back and forth from the coffee pot!
My mug is about 10 oz I think, maybe a little less. The coffeepot is right behind me at work, as is the mini fridge for milk, so it's no big deal to refill... plus I drink my coffee slowly and it gets cold quickly if I have a hugemongous mug.
And like like my silly mug, it's got the poppy flower fairy on it and is super girly so DH won't thieve it. Heh.
I covet my mom's pet mug. I remember adoring it growing up- it's these really cute-but-not-cutesy cats, black and long and elegant with their tails twining together. She still uses it every day. I still covet it
I have one mug for my coffee (DD painted the mug at one of those "paint your own ceramic" places and gave to me as a birthday gift about 5 years ago) and I have one for tea . No one dares to use them!
