Let's see... swiped the side of the garage twice in the same spot and backed DH's BMW into the step son's car..... my wheels are all in danger if I'm moving.. Sorry YT.. I'm horrible at parking and backing and going forward on some days!!! :errrr:

I forgive you Mayk. But only because I know how sexy you look doing it.

and you still have a driver's license?.. Remind me not to sit in your car...

I definitely favored the passenger side of the lane when I was learning to drive, because I was positively terrified of oncoming traffic, LOL. I think I've only scraped one rim and that's because I was trying to park in a corner space and misjudged the angle (that was also 10 years ago). I now have a tendency to drive with the driver's side of the car fairly close to the midline, though, because we live out in the country and the shoulders can be a bit...bumpy.

I did it once at the drive-in window of the bank and one other time leaving a shopping center. I just got a new car and am ultra careful about the curbs! Don't want these rims scratched!

Just the idea of it makes me want to weep. Do you know how much those rims cost?!?

About $150 ea. to refinish a Lexus alloy rim, and probably a lot more for Billy Ray's rim...

Re: Are you a "curb hugger"?

Oh yes. Our 2005 A6 had every single rim ripped up. I just had to replace a wheel about a month ago for driving over something that caught and bent the inside of the wheel.

I'm the opposite. I always park too far from the curb. Oh well.

Only on the right side and only when I was driving a little Corolla! I do much better with parallel parking when I'm in a large vehicle!

In Chicago they will give you a ticket if you park more than 12" from the curb. I have seem them out there WITH RULERS. We are a city desperate for revenue...

I try to be lol, but I really suck at parking so I am usually too far out unless I run up on the curb that way I know I am close enough :wink2:

Only when I am cycling. I have to say many drivers are inconsiderate of cyclists (and vice versa unfortunately) and you have to be very careful and always hyperaware of everyone around you when you are cycling because motorists will just open car doors into you, make right turns into you, and just plain not notice you are there! :angryfire: So when I am cycling besides being hypervigilant I also hug the curb if I can lol. When I am driving my car I don't because I like to give cyclists plenty of space. Share the road people! And there is much room for improvement on all ends- cyclists/motorists/pedestrians. Perhaps it is just where I am located but it seems the majority of people whether they are motorists or cyclists or joggers or pedestrians are very egocentric and it's all about them without care to others around them. :o End of mini rant. :wink2:

I sure am...I use the curb as a guide when parallel parking...lol all four of my tires are all scratched up! My SO yells at me all the time...this why I don't get cars with expensive rims!

In other news, I park on a lift system at my complex, and I DO not use the sides of the lift as a guide. That would be dangerous.
