I was given the option online for 2 stones. Both are Round 1.42 H VS2 Triple X.

Confused with this HCA tool. If someone can help me decide between the two. Also when it asks for cutlet % what number are we supposed to put in there? Thanks in advance!

GIA:

1179463627

or

2165256091

1179463627: HCA = 3.3

2165256091: HCA = 1.9

For culet (not cutlet), enter 0% if the report says "Culet: None", and enter a number between 0.35%-1.05% if the report says "Culet: Very Small" (this is the range to use for >1 ct diamonds). There is a table at the bottom of the webpage for the HCA tool, which explains how to enter values for culet.

In any case, the second diamond has more potential than the first diamond, judging by the HCA scores alone. To go further in teh decision making process, you'd have to request high-magnification photos and reflector technology images including IdealScope, ASET, and Hearts & Arrows.

What is your budget and other search parameters? Not sure why you were "given the option" of only two stones. There are currently about 80 H-VS2 MRB diamonds in the carat range 1.40-1.45ct in the PS Diamond Search database.

My budget is about 10K +- for the diamond. These were the 2 diamonds in stock , obviously i am not obligated to chose from only these 2, just curious. Thanks for the input!

Here are 3 options for well-respected vendors, all close to your price range.

All of these have top-notch cuts and have all of the light performance data you need to make an accurate evaluation.

1.5ct, I, SI1

1.258ct, H, VS2

1.401ct, I, VS2

Any of those three would be a great choice. Best of luck!
