Are these early brilliant cut diamonds?

Hello lovely Ps’ers! A couple of months ago I briefly saw this ‘1930’s Old Mine Diamond’ necklace. I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went to have another look.

On closer inspection, these diamonds are definitely not OMCs or even OECs. I’m wondering if they are early brilliant cuts? I would love the opinions of some more knowledgeable eyes.

Sorry these pics are not the best!

I can't see the cut in those pics, unfortunately. Try to get a clear pic of the faceting of one of the stones and post that.

Thanks @lovedogs ! I'll post the pics when I get them from the vendor.

Yeah I also can’t see the cut in the pics

They are all over the place. No uniformity in the cut style. Some have LGHs that are too long for what we consider early RB or tranny.

Probably just older round brilliants before there was an emphasis on well cut ones. My original engagement ring was like that.

Based on the yellow-tone photo they kind of look like run of the mill steep cut diamonds. Some of those can look similar to old cuts in a pretty way.

I am not an expert and if more knowledgeable people ID the cuts as old cuts then go with their opinion. But I have noticed a few listings on EBay and Etsy that purport to offer OECs or OMCs that in fact are just steep cuts. Buy a 0.47ct. K color SI clarity good cut diamond for a cheap price from a big online retailer, offer it on Etsy as grandma’s charmingly included 0.51 ct. J color old cut. Price it just a little less than the honest sellers. Make a lot of money.

Not saying that your vendor is dishonest because maybe the experts will make better ID on the cut. Just putting the observation out there for people to be on the lookout.

Ok here are some vendor pics. They are a little better than mine :/

I’m thinking about buying this necklace. It was more appealing when I thought the diamonds were antiques. It does lay flat but it’s kind of short now. I would lengthen it a bit...

Those are not early brilliant rounds in my book. The table sizes, LGHs and PAs all differ. I do not like using the term anyways. .

Beside technicality, as long as they are untreated natural diamonds, I think it looks very good overall. Those are some some big diamonds. Custom making one with well cut diamonds at that size may cost you a fortune.

Thanks everyone! You confirmed my suspensions about the cut of the diamonds. The necklace is still tempting at $1500 per carat but I think I will hit pause for now.

*Suspicions :/

@lovedogs they sparkle-I mean obviously not like ACAs-but I’m trying to resist...
