I don't like any of the SI's - the SI2's look hazy all over, and the SI1 has an inclusion right under the table, which will more than likely be visible. VS1's are eye clean, as are most VS2's. I like the I VS2, but I would pick 3 and have the gemologists do an evaluation and ASET on them all.

This is based solely on the pictures - I haven't done the HCA calculations.

Thanks.

I searched based on a HCA score of a low 2 or below so I think most of them should sparkle sufficiently (I hope!...still a newbie at this) I do however want the diamond to be eye clean. I had read that it is possible to get eye clean SI2's and SI1's but I suppose none of the James Allen diamonds met my HCA threshold and were still within my desired carat range and budget.

I did find two more -- on e that is AGS Triple 0 but is still an SI2. The other is a VVS2 so I think it should be eyeclean. Thoughts?

You can certainly find eye clean SI1's and SI2's on JA, but you do need to be very diligent and willing to check back frequently. I've noticed that their inventory has pretty quick turnaround, so just keep looking. The SI's you listed are not exactly eye clean. Try to avoid anything under the table, as it's the easiest place to spot an inclusion, and try to avoid many black spots. It's a matter of picking a needle out of a haystack that keeps changing--time consuming and tedious, but you can find the needle if you're willing to look.

Another thing to consider is that J color may show very slight yellow/brownish tinges on the tilt (i.e. most viewing angles) as well as in many lighting situations, and almost definitely with the side stones. Maybe try to limit your color cutoff to I.

What I do: set your carat range, color range, and clarity range (just try SI1 and SI2 for now), then sort by price. Pick out the best ones.

1.11 ct Ex I color SI2 HCA=1.1 for $4820. Bam. Spend $2000 elsewhere.

Hi ABC12345

I would select splurge 2

IT is funny one of my studs is 1.20 I si1 and looks exactly like your budget stone (my color is a little whiter)

But that is fine for an earring and it is totally eye clean with the dotting

But for an engagement ring I would rather have the 1.12 I think vs2 stone

Ditto...talk to JA to find out if the stones are eye clean.
