Hey there! Just wondering if any of u guys are from the washington state area or even idaho or oregon. Just wanna see if there are any PSers close by to me! I am in the eastern side of washington and we have snow! My dogs have been loving it! When they''re outside, they look kinda like coke addicts... Haha I know what a bad example but they have snow allll over their noses. So cute!

I live in the Bellevue area. Spent my life in Snohomish & Lake Stevens area. Most of my family is still in Lake Stevens area.
My grandparents have a house on the eastern side of the mountains too and spend a fair amount of time there.

No snow at my house yet. Just a little fell yesterday afternoon but none stuck.

Cool! I used to live in renton and my cousins used to live in bellevue! Haha I used to LOVE going shopping at bellevue square and eating at the cheesecake factory, yummm. Haha well I still like shopping there but now southcenter has become huge cuz before I moved they were still tiny.

Anyway, so what part of easter washington do your grandparents have their house?

I live in Western Washington!

No snow here. Yesterday, few flakes feel but that was about it.

I''m so glad it''s not snowing today because my kids get out of school for break on Friday and I do want this last week to finish up holiday shopping and running errands.

Aww yay! One of these days, it would be so fun for the washingtonians to meet up and have dinner or something! I wish there was someone over on the east side right now! Can''t get over the pass cuz of all the snow and ice!

. . .

huh? haha so you dont live in western washington?

I''m in Western WA too. There are a few of us, a GTG needs to be in the works!

I live in Western Washinton. I thought that TooPatient was the one who typed about the ice and wishing she had someone close by and I responded that I live nearby her. After I looked back, I realized you typed it so I deleted/edited my post.

I''m doing online multi-tasking with PS and facebook. Normally it''s this site and a fish forum

Small world, I work in Snohomish at one of the antique malls. Spent my later teenage years in Everett (yikes, you couldn't pay me to live there!) and went to a private art college in Seattle. (There was a lot of other moving around when I was a kid, all over the US.)

Ah, Everett. My husband calls it "Ever Rott." He''s come up with names for a bunch of places. . .

Snohomish is "Gohomish." - came up with that name while we lived there.
Bothell is "Brothell."
Tacoma is "Ta-homie."
Kirkland is "the Land of Kirk."

I''m just across the columbia in portland - but only for a few more days

Me! I live near Gig Harbor in Western WA - we had a few flakes yesterday. What a letdown after last years Xmas blizzard, lol. Oh well, there''s still lots of winter left!

Ahaha, yep, that's what my cousinsister, my husband and I call Everett too! Too funny... it's just so *appropriate*. I had way more scary experiences walking around alone in Everett after dark than Capitol Hill in Seattle.

Snohomish has that citywide fabulous stench from the big poo pile on the edge of town- so the Snohomish highschool got called Cow Pie High at Cascade when I went there. Lol @ Brothell, I lived there for a while too- quite different than Beacon Hill where we'd moved from! Boy did I hate the lack of good sushi and pho...

Bump! For washington!

I''ve lived here my entire life and we''re presently down near Ft Lewis...

They live in Lake Stevens and have a small house in Soap Lake they spend time at. We all head over to Soap Lake the first weekend in July for my grandparents'' annual Fish Feed.

I''ve been in the Bellevue area ince October 2004. Before that was Lake Stevens & Snohomish.

I love the antique malls. Been awhile since I went though. They are like pet stores for me. If I go in and look, I fall in love and don''t want to leave.

I love Snohomish''s antique malls!! The best pie place is there in Snohomish.. the woman who owns it started here in Julian with her best friend.. I have to say, your gal''s pies are better than the ones here in Julian.
2.gif
I love the British shop there too.. they have fabulous teas, unless they''ve had to close. One of my favorite things was going to the fresh market on the flats and picking our own stuff. LOVED IT!
I know right? That pie is daaaangerous. I only ever have it rarely, because it''s just too good. one of our dealers sometimes brings us employees a whole pie. Guess how long that lasts in the lunch room? Um, five seconds or so! The Snohomish Bakery is also a pit of sheer caloric doom too. best cream cheese brownies ever. I occasionally have one for like... breakfast lunch and dinner, because they really are just that deadly.

A lot of the other antique malls closed in the last year or so
7.gif
Black cat, michaels, sharon''s... star''s been around since 1982 and we''re still doing fine, but I hate seeing so many others close.

my silly orange cat sat on my keyboard of my laptop and got cat gravel under all the keys! it''s driving me nuts, my shift key is especially gravel-full. well i hope his little booty was properly warmed by the computer anyway

My kids had soccer practice down at the fields by there and ever day we'd drive by the empty building and I'd feel so sad.

I've never been in the Snoh. Bakery. No way am I stopping there

Yah, some new ones! My husband may have called Spokane Spocaine too. lol I think it meant Spocaine (as in cocaine though, not McCain - not as if everyone does cocaine in Spokane. Who knows why he came up with that! lol)

I am moving to Western Washington in early August. It is quite interesting to hear all these stereotypes/nicknames to cross-reference with our apartment search (taking them lightheartedly, of course).

(Mostly) don''t listen to us. We''re being silly. I say mostly because Everett really is bad. The only part that''s decent is the very north tip by a park called Legion Park. Many of the homes are water front and GORGEOUS. We looked at a home there to rent and then found that the school for that part had only 3 out of 10, so we wrote that home off.

My friend use to live nearby Everett Mall and to give you an idea of how unsafe she felt there, her husband installed a deadbolt on their bedroom door!

Wow! I cannot imagine only feeling safe with a deadbolt on my bathroom door. Eeks.

At this point, we are looking at Ruston and central Tacoma (i.e. lofts on 6th near the museums) for the first year and then moving to Seattle proper in the second year. It is so much cheaper to move to Fife, Renton, or Federal Way, though, so that is enticing. It will all depend on where DH gets a job, though, and how we decide to effectively split the commute.

Yeah, my crazy sister bought a house just behind the Everett mall. She's had all sorts of drug dealers living near her over the last couple of years. We parked our brand new RX8 out front when we visited her the first time, and within 10 minutes some kid (like a 9 year old, we saw them do it but not fast enough to stop them) had keyed every panel of the car down to metal and we had to have almost the entire car repainted. We'd owned it for like two weeks. That's Ever-rot for ya. Having lived along Evergreen way in some cheap scary apts as a teenager, I can definitely say that that part of Everett is for sure the armpit of WA. (Well there are nice bits of Everett to be sure, but they're pretty far out on the outskirts- my MIL has a beautiful home with an Everett zip, but it's really Mukilteo.
2.gif
)

SDL, I do watch the skydivers a lot! When we lived in Bothell the hot air balloons from the Snohomish fields would skim our apartments all the time- I guess we were on their flight route- it was totally beautiful though.

It does surprise me (having recently moved into Snohomish) how different it is after dark- I had no idea it was such a party town on weekends... it seems so, y'know, antique collector-y and cute on weekdays- we can hear people hooting and hollering all night at the bars on 1st st on weekends.

A while back the Seattle Times had an article about trying to get Snohomish bars to pool money to help fund more enforcement of drunken activity.

Here''s a similar article from the Herald:

Oh, and we looked at a few cute houses in Mukilteo that were in the Everett zip. Primary problem with that was that my kids still would be in the Everett School District.
