I''ve proposed to my fiance about 9 months ago and gave her this diamond set in a solitaire band with the intention on getting her the band she really wants later. Well, now after talking about it for awhile and looking at various rings, she hasn''t really found anything that is just perfect.

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-283321.htm

Here are some criteria that she would like in a band:
-white gold
-6 prong
-the e-band with possibly shared prong like 4, 5, or 6 small diamonds on each side of the solitaire
-similar to "Legato Shared Prong" or "Petite" Diamond engagement rings at WF
-has to be able to fit a matching band right up against it with no gap at all,
-NOT a cathedral band

Are there any bands out there that would accomodate these criteria even with a 6 pronged setting? If not, could WF come up with something custom made and how does the custom band thingy work with them? Has anybody gotten a custom setting from WF? Do you just fill out the general criteria on your website, they try to come up with a design, show it to you, and then you can decide whether or not to use it? Or are you obligated once you contact them and they come up with a design?

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

i am new to ps, although i''ve been lurking for quite a while. the bf and i bought the diamond from whiteflash after reading threads and doing an extensive research (this site and the users are GREAT. we learned so much). the most imporatant thing for me was the ring setting more than the diamond itself, so we decided to go with whiteflash''s custom design route. i had a few criteria of my own, such as

- fluh fit with the wedding band (2.5mm)
- delicate 6 prongs/head with round shape rather than "v"
- thin channel set
- no cathedral set
- ability to support upgrade

the designer (joe) at whiteflash worked with me and met all my criteria after a few emails with pictures and a couple phone conversations. the first cad image was a bit too bulky for me, especially the head part, so joe revised and emailed me another cad. my bf and i love it!!! i can''t wait to see the final products.

i will try to post the some images...

So were you under no obligation until you gave them the go-ahead to make the decided on setting that the designer made? Or were you obligated to buy their setting when you first had them design the first mock-up? I just haven''t totally committed to having WF do my setting yet and and wondering when I''m fully obligated to purchase their product.

i paid $500 for both the e-ring and w-ring to start the design process. the money applied toward the final price of the rings (they were cheaper than the ones on their website, surprisingly). i am not sure whether you are obligated to purchase them, but for me, i did so much research and whiteflash was very open to my ideas and advised me with the things i didn''t know. i am sure they''ll work with you until you are satisfied.

Ok, so there''s a payment up-front and they will just work with you until you get something you are completely satisfied with. I have worked with WF in the past, just not for custom settings and I have also had a wonderful experience with them.

The cad images for your ring are incredible, by the way! They are quite similar to that I think my fiance wants! I will definitely have to show her these! Thank you so much for your posts!

thank you!

i think they might charge you more if you are making huge changes. mine were minor changes so they didn''t. it takes about 3-5 days for cad images and 10-12 days from your approval for the final products.

have fun!
