Are the feathers on this 1.2 carat VS2 (ideal cut) a problem?

It's a VS2 brilliant cushion but has a few decent sized feathers. Should I be concerned before ordering this online? Need to make a decision very quickly so would appeciate wisdom and insight.

feathers should be fine, have the girdle checked too make sure the indented natural don''t create a durability risk.

btw who says its an ideal cut and what was the proof of such a claim?

Thanks for the response. Why do you think the indented natural is a problem? I am pretty dense when it comes to diamond clarity issues like feathers and naturals?

Btw, I say ideal because the depth and table are exactly what I want and seem to adhere to fantastic cushion specs (although i understand cushion specs are not as cookie cutter as round).

Just get the vendor to check the indented natural, they are often fine. Personally I would ask the vendor to send you some pics of the diamond and an ASET image if he has one, but photos would be very useful.

And ask them to make at least one a straight on shot (close up), if they'll send you some.

what would I be looking for, in particular, in those photos to tip me off?

Basically you want a full on shot of the diamond so you can see the faceting pattern and get an idea of how it looks. Some cushions have chunky facets, others can look more like crushed ice, the chunky faceted type seem to be the most popular and it is a matter of taste. Side views of the diamond can also be useful, so you can see how high the crown is, but the straight on pic is the best one to get. Also get the straight on shots at a distance and close up magnified too.

Ditto.

Here''s just one of many threads on cushions. I basically just wanted to show you what type of picture we were talking about. Scroll about half way down and you''ll see a couple examples..

it can be a problem if it creates a weak spot in the girdle making it more prone too chipping.
You cant buy these stones by the numbers need pictures and preferably a skilled vendor that knows the cut.
