Chunky faceted cushions can come in both 8 and 4 and I''ve seen the appearance in both cushion and cushion modified (although less so in the "modified" varieties).Date: 10/8/2008 4:20:05 PM

Are the cushions with 8 main pavillions the chunky cut ones?
I think I''v heard this but I was thinking ones with less pavillions (4 or 6) would have the larger facets.
Thanks.

I know the feeling. Love my diamond but sometimes wish they have chunkier facets.

Doesn''t it seem like the cutters should be making more of them since the demand is there for them?
(sigh)
I really would love for them to make new old miners - open culet, high crown & all.
Why do you think that is? Is it because we are exposed to so many beautiful cushions on PS and a typical consumer won''t see them at a B&M?Date: 10/9/2008 11:06:12 PM

The demand for them is here on PS, but we are a very different group than the average diamond consumer I''m afraid...
For some reason, it intrigues/fascinates me that stones can possess the property to flouresce (sp?). I can't put it into words any better than that. I guess the whiter is nice, also. I have an interest in stones with inclusions, too (although do not like lots of them in diamonds).Date: 10/11/2008 3:22:41 PM

Sonoma,
Can't answer your question definitively because I do not dabble at all with modern cut stones so I cannot really compare.![]()
I would say that based on personal experience, about 15-20% of the stones we come across have some degree of flouro. Tell me please what attracts you about flouro (just curious)?
Is it the whiter face up?
