A few people have told me that cushion cuts are trendy. Is this true?

I''m trying to decide between an RB or a square cushion to put in a halo setting.

Well..., if you consider the first and oldest (dating to about 1660''s) brilliant shape trendy than maybe.....

According to Merriam-Webster, the first definition of ''trendy'' is:

1. very fashionable : up-to-date

If you''re asking if they''re trendy as in ''currently popular,'' then yes- around Pricescope, at least! Halos even more so.

Yes I do think that cushions AND halos are VERY trendy right now. But I also think that if you choose wisely a cushion can be a timeless look. And really you should get what you like whether it''s trendy or not!

Yes, cushions are trendy right now, especially set in halos. Personally, not that my opinon was asked, I''d go with the RB or halo-less cushion. I''m just not a fan of the halo...takes away from the center stone if you ask me.

The trend for the past few years seems to be Rounds, Princess cuts, Asscher cuts and Cushion cuts in that order (based on our sales and search requests). I believe that the renewed popularity of the Asscher and Cushion cut diamonds is in direct response to modern cutting techniques which are making it possible to produce Asscher and Cushion cut diamonds of exceptional cut quality. I didn't like the original production quality of Asscher and Cushion cut diamonds, but I sure do like what I've been seeing for the past few years! I don't think it is a trend as much as a rebirth.

I agree, cushions with halos are trendy but when done right they are just classic. Like Boston Jeff''s:

Absolutely.

It''s true cushions are becoming somewhat more popular. But it is just that, a cut. Settings could follow trends though.
I''d pick the square cushion over RB in a halo set.

Boston Jeff''s ring sure is nice.
