I see many beautiful arrow pics on diamonds of ideal cuts H &A diamonds here....I thought they were only visible with an idealscope.

Are theses diamonds cut so well the arrows are always visible to the naked eye or are there special filters filters on the cameras? Makes my diamond look blah!!

Would like to know for future upgrade.

Thanks!!!

they are visible when you look at them correctly at the right angles. For starters, simply cup your hand around the diamond ring and look through your hand. You should be able to see them for an ideally cut diamond

Yep, as DLA already said, the arrows are visible in certain lighting conditions and angles. They seldom appear the same as the sharp black arrow images that you see often online, (which is the product of good lighting and good photography but not filters) but more silvery, or steely in color. It's hard to photograph but here is one that I captured and happened to have saved.

Mine is just a gia XXX but here's a pic of mine when I try to take one up close with my blue phone

The arrows are part of the action, lol. Sometimes they are silvery, sometimes throwing fire, and seldom appearing as black lines because they mostly only do that when they reflect something dark colored. Watch this video that compares a H&A, a Solasfera that has splintery arrows, and an August Vintage that has no arrows but has chunky facets.

Ooooh! Beautiful!!!! Thank you all for posting your amazing diamonds/rings...I didn't know they were visible to the naked eye I really thought you needed an idealscope. Thanks for clarifying...hmmm maybe in the future.

@Niel: I love your setting...if you will...what type of knife setting is your six prong solitaire? I thought of maybe getting a BGD six prong or Vatche. Does the knife edge feel uncomfortable at times? I think it looks stunninh!!!
:)

@ Niel and Christina

They really set your arrows beautifully amongst the prongs? Did you have to request this or did your jewelers just know to do this?

Stellar work!! Who are your jewelers?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Its actually just the cheap JA one. I think it was 180 in 14k. My ring is actually out getting reset, but no when I wore it I found it very comfortable.

You can get pictures as the others have said. Here's one similar to the cupping in the hand technique. I put them between my fingers and then moved around until I got in a position in the lighting so I could see some arrows.

Hmmm. will try that later and post if I could get a similar effect... my diamond is supposedly AGS triple O, ideal HOF bought at a bargain second hand. I know big risk, but it was appraised, confirmed certified.

You might also give a quick read through the "How to Take Good Pictures Of Your Diamond" thread over in Show Me The Bling. I think there was a nice one posted recently taken with a rolled up white paper. I'm gonna have to try that next. :)

If you have an AGS0 stone then you likely have arrows as well. :)) I think if you just spend sometime playing with your stone in different lighting and move it around, then you will find them. When I first received my diamond I was surprised that they weren't as apparent as in photos I had seen online, but once you know what to look for and how to find them they can be quite obvious. Now photographing the buggers....that's more of a challenge! ;)) It can seriously take 100 pics to get 10 really good ones. I'll have to try the rolled up white paper trick! I've got a new pretty coming soon, so I feel a photo shoot coming on! :naughty: Flowers are a good back drop as well, in my photo the peony was acting as the 'cup', and I also have a black camera. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! :))
