I leave my nails alone, but I bite on my cuticles when I''m anxious or impatient.

Anyone else?

I used to bite my nails when I was young. I stopped when I was in the 6th grade because I realized that if I keep biting them, then my nails will look really nasty. They are not the prettiest, but it's better than before. I still chew my nails when I am bored. So bad. It's kind of sad because DH has much nicer nails than me.

I am definitely a cuticle biter. It gets really bad when I''m stressed or nervous. I hate that I do it, but I can''t stop.

I have found that getting manicures regularly at least convinces me to stop for a little while.

I bite my nails constantly!! I have since I was young.

I''ve tried everything to stop...but nothing works. I remember running around with 10 band-aids on the tips of my fingers that my great-grandma put on me...the only thing that works for me is having fake nails on. My hands don''t go anywhere near my mouth when I have them on...but once they''re off it''s like I never stopped!!

I told my SO that he can''t propose unless I have my nails on...I don''t want a beautiful ring on my hand with ugly nails

Yes... I chew my cuticles and they are a mess!! It gets painful sometimes and looks awful, but I just can''t help myself!

I''m slowly breaking my nail habit! HOORAY!

I''m a nail nibbler. What''s weird is that I completely stop when I wear acrylics. I mean I know it would be hard to bite them, but I never find my fingers near my mouth. If it''s stress (and I think it is) then why is a plastic cover the answer for instant stoppage

When I was really young I think I bit my nails not now though. I keep my nails super short because I get grossed thinking about whatthings may be lurking under longer nails. Doesnt matter how many times I wash them. I''ve been known in the past to get acrylics & rip them off about an hour later in record time.

Eewwww!!

Me too. So strange. When I have them removed occasionally for a breather, I''m biting within the day so they have to go back on.
Nothing like a little toxic chemical aversion therapy!

(silly i know, but when i pick them really bad, i don''t wear my ring) (i feel the hands don''t deserve it)

So do I, it''s a really weird habit, isn''t it? If I get a hint of a raggedy cuticle or dry bit of skin I will pick and pick, usually until it bleeds. The worst parts are down either sides of my thumbnails. Some people think it''s some deep psychological trauma. I once had a doctor ask me about my habit of ''self-mutilation''.

What really helps though is keeping my hands and cuticles ultra moisturised, so the dry bits don''t have a chance to tempt me to start.
