.... well not quite Arcadian''s cousin. More like cousin of Arcadian''s new Tsavorite! This is from the same parcel as her lovely oval and I have to agree with Eric (Swala Gems) that it is a most glorious colour. A lovely medium green, not to dark or too light and certainly more blue and very very little yellow. It has some extinction going on but overall it''s a very bright and lively gemstone.

Apologies in advance for the photos. I''m having a tough time at the moment and gems are not my priority so here are just a few snapshots. I promise to take more once it''s set.

Stats:-

Variety: Tsavorite
Cut / Shape: Cushion
Cut quality: Excellent
Clarity: Eye Clean
Treatment: None
Origin: Tanzania
Weight: 1.28 ct
Dimension: 6.2 x 6.2 x 3.9 mm

Interestingly (and I think Arcadian said the same) this Tsav darkens in incandescent light. Not as dark as the photo shows but you get the idea of how it looks different from natural daylight in the 2nd and 3rd photos.

Outside in natural daylight. This photo is incredibly accurate for the colour I see but it doesn''t show the sparkle which I see in real life.

Last one - a bit closer (again outside in natural daylight).

Wow! The color is beautiful!

However, it looks to be native cut and the facets seems a little dinged up. Is that just the pics?

No matter what, it is a spectacular stone.

I''m not sure why that blue comes through in incandescent lighting. I like it though it gives different perspective of the stone.

I also can''t get the stone to sparkle outside, how funny lol. I wish our lighting conditions here were more steady here. As I type this, I see sunlight. If I were to go out and try to snap pics, it would be totally overcast.

I really like it especially in incandescent light. I wish you to get through your tough moment with no problems or losses!

It''s soooo pretty! What will you do with it? I dream of owning a beautiful tsavorite some day.

LD,
I see what you mean; it seems to darken up indoors a little and shows some dark areas but overall, it’s not too bad. Your picture shows a smudged stone though so maybe that’s why you can’t capture the sparkle?

Wonderful green tsav! There is something about a green stone that I really like and yours is a great example.

What are your plans for the gem?

Ack! That is simply gorgeous!!! Love the cut and colour of it - that would have been my pick, too!

Guilty as charged with the smudged stone! Apologies all! I did tell you I took the piccies quickly!

Jeff - I think that''s the pictures! It''s a nicely cut stone - not precision cut by any means and it does have a small inclusion under the table - is that what you''re seeing perhaps?

Arcadian - I wish we could post videos on here because it is a very lively stone. My camera (always blame the tools I say) is dire at picking up fire/glitter/daylight colours of colour change gemstones and for some reason, I struggle most with green gemstones! When i''m really concentrating and have time to spend, I can usually adjust the balance etc to get a reasonably good representation of the colour green I see but it never seems to have that "oomph" that I see. This Tsav looks dull and lifeless in the photos but it''s far from it and I suspect yours performs in a similar way to mine?

Crasru - thank you so much for your lovely kind thoughts.

Innerkitten & Sal from Cal - good question! It''s only a small gem and needs to be bigged up! For now it''s going to be an LOGR and I''m toying with several but haven''t settled on anything yet. I''m being pulled in the double halo direction .......

Chrono - the photo makes it look darker than it actually is and the mucky fingerprints definitely don''t help! I do love the blue that is more prominent in incandescent light.

i love the daylight colour of this beauty

LD, I saw the language on Swala''s site re a tsav parcel they just got and I think the stones you have and Arcadian are excellent examples and great sales for it!

What a beauty. Wonderful with your skin tones.

I too dream the tsav dream...Someday...Someday.

Setting thoughts?

LD,
Pretty stone. Did you get to check it with the UV light or the chelsea filter yet? I think this batch is strictly colored by vanadium. Arcadian said it didn''t UV fluor, but she doesn''t have a chelsea filter (Arcadian correct me if I''m wrong).

Congrats on the new tsav - very, very pretty! Love the cushion shape. (I just got a Swala "relative" on Monday, too, so I''ll hopefully have pics soon.)

Oh very pretty Tsav. I love the color! How are you going to set it?

Thats correct. No fluor period. I don''t have a chelsea filter (I got one coming though

LD, in every shot I couldn''t get the darn thing to sparkle

I think its rather sad in a way because it perfoms like mad in person.

My tsavorite shows blue indoors and outdoors and it sparkles in all lighting conditions, incandescent, sunlight, overcast day, fluroescent, office fluorescent. I think some go more yellow indoors from what I read about them. Some do shift color.

Are you saying it just doesn't sparkle in photos, but it does IRL, in certain lighting?

LD,
I know you like my honest opinion, but I'm looking at this on my color corrected monitor, and it looks very yellow and peridot-like here. Is it more saturated in person? I hope you don't mind my inquiring about it this way.

No sparkle in photos. IRL it sparkles like mad everywhere. Which I''m going to guess LD has the same thing.

I''ve yet to get any good sunlight but got a feeling even with it I still wouldn''t be able to capture that sparkle. (could be fun trying tho

I think it''s a gorgeous stone. I know what you mean about the sparkle thing. When I got mine I was blown away by the sparkle and mine is a square emerald cut!

As I posted before, I mentioned that Tsavorite would have been my pick, too! I just wandered back to Swala and of course, that one had been on my favourites list forever! Love that it went to a loving home.

Oooooo...what a lovely green. I actually never thought I''d be a fan of green, but I have to say I am smitten by a nice tsav!

Beautiful tsav, the sparkle factor is great, I like how Eric has his stones cut.

Very pretty tsav LD!

I love green, I think half of my stones are green, and the other half pink.

I''m so tempted.

I love your Tsav, it''s very pretty!

I’m guessing my tsavorite might behave differently than yours and Arcadians because it’s from a different mine (and parcel). It maintains its glow and sparkle under all lighting, indoors and outdoors. It also holds its slightly bluish green colour both indoors and outdoors as well. I’m not feeling it for this tsavorite because I think the saturation is a little lacking and this shows in the first picture.

Wow that green is amazing! Really makes me want my own tsav...
Can''t wait to see it set!

Chrono, I''m not sure if its just this particular parcel or the cut of the stones (could be both?)

Mine does in fact glow like mad. it gets blueish in incandescents which I think is a particularly nice thing but it still remains quite glowy. Its got a great sparkle factor IRL as well. That just dosen''t come across on digital cameras though.

I don''t consider mine a 10 out of 10 stone but for the price, I have to say they are a very good value. I feel that mine at least is a 8 out of 10 stone. It meets my immediate need, it wasn''t overly expensive and was within the budget I wanted to stay within. I wish it were bigger but thats for another day
2.gif

10 out of 10 stone is way too far outside of my budget at this time (unless I win the lottery or get me a sugar daddy...lol)

Trust me, I''m not poopooing or anything, because you have exquisite taste which in some stones translates into some serious moola. Hell I''d take your bad stones!! lol

Today I got to see mine in full on sun and about fell over, its pretty darn amazing. I took some more pics, but they do not even tell the real life story. I have more luck with the darn sphene than this thing.

I put up mine in the vendor comparison thread. (its not the best shot, but I already tipped it out once outside, I didn''t want that happening again) For color its spot on to what Eric put up there, so I have no complaints to that.
