Approximate cost of a custom platinum setting?

I have an appointment today with a jeweler that does custom settings. I have something rather specific in mind and am hoping to get some idea of what a reasonable price would be:

Solitaire platinum setting for a 1.75 c round diamond
Rather basic contour design
About 4.5mm thick

I know it''s tough to price without more detail but I''m just to get a ballpark

i recently got a custom platinum setting from a local jeweler for $2650 but i had two rows on each side of princess cut diamonds. total diamonds equaled about a 1ct. good luck!

Quotes earlier this year I received for a custom simple/basic setting began at $2,000 ranging up to $3,000 (Can).

Where I got my ring they offered many many platinum settings for $450.

I just had mine custom reset. 2 mm shank with .14 ctw baguettes. $2250. The cost of the labor and metal alone would have been $2000. The stones cost extra. Keep in mind that metals are going up, and my setting may have cost $500 less if I had it done a year ago.

Littleroman, do you mind telling me what area you''re in? Because I would love to get a simple platinum setting for that amount. I have a stone in a pendant that I hardly ever wear, and I''m thinking of having it reset, but I don''t want to pay too much.
