Appraiser in Jacksonville, FL?

Hmm, well I''m well into my diamond hunt (as outlined by my other post), so now I''m looking for an appraiser that''s in or at least near, Jacksonville, Florida. Anyone hear of anyone around here? Orlando would do...

Is it crazy to want to be nearby? Or is it pretty standard to have the appraisal done somewhere remote from my location?

Isn't Richard Sherwood near there? He does a lot of PS peoples appraisals. Right now I am using the Denver Appraiser Neil Beaty and I mailed something to him. Up top at Resources click on Appraisers and that should help you.

I live in the Jax area too. No, there is NO indepdent appraiser who does not sell jewelry also, here. Richard Sherwood is in Sarasota. I found an appraiser listed somewhere, who was in Jax, and when I e mailed, I got a scathing reply about my "notion" of buying a diamond online, etc. Turns out he is THE appraiser for Underwood''s. No wonder, huh?

Where do you live? Maybe we are neighbors! I''m in Atlantic Beach.

Well, we aren''t really neighbors, I live on the Southside. Wish I could be closer to the beach though. I do go over there pretty often.

I guess it looks like I''ll be looking to Sarasota or Atlanta if I want to be fairly close.

I live in TN and shipped my ring to Richard Sherwood. It was a wonderful process and I wouldn''t hesitate to use him again. very well worth the drive or $ to ship IMO!!

I live in Los Angeles and shipped my stone to Richard Sherwood in Sarasota too. I also would do it again. He is wonderful and gave very detailed information and evaluation. Could you make a trip out of it? Even if not I would still recommend considering shipping it to him.

Called Richard Sherwood and he''s too busy right now to appraise my stone. Anyone else know of a Florida or even Atlanta appraiser who knows his/her stuff? I looked at the appraiser list here on PS, but none of those guys/girls ever posts here nor have I seen any recs.

I needed a appraiser in my area too and I was pointed to www.appraisers.org and there you can search for a appraiser in your area or the closest to your area that there is.
