Appraiser in Hamilton/Kitchener/Waterloo (Ontario) area?

Hello fellow PSers.....and maybe more specifically any of you located in the Hamilton/Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario area.

I''m looking for an independent appraiser in the Hamilton or Kitchener/Waterloo area. I''ve been able to find some in Toronto, but I don''t want to have to make the drive all the way there if I don''t have to.

I''ve read some posts on Steven Knight at Jewelery Judge in Hamilton, but I''m a little weary of using him as he''s not officially associated with Jewelery Judge, and they''ve even written something about him on their official website. I''m not so sure that he''s fully independent.

So, if anyone knows of an independent appraiser in my area, please let me know.

I should be getting my ring on June 22nd....I''m super excited. Still not sure how/when I''m going to propose, but want to get it appraised ASAP so that everything is ready to go. I''ll be sure to post pics as soon as I can.

Yes. I''m buying an ACA from Whiteflash.

Have them send it to one of the good PS appraisers. (:

I know it may raise some questions of impartiality, but I wouldn't worry about it. People send directly from vendor to appraiser every once in a while.

Well, I''m having the ring delivered to my aunt in Michigan, who will be coming into Canada for a visit next weekend and can bring the ring then. If I have them send it to an appraiser, it won''t get to my aunt in time and then I''m not sure when I''ll be able to get the ring.

I live north of Toronto, and there is only ONE appraiser here. I know that in our area..Ontario, it''s hard to find good craftsmen in the jewelry industry, and just as difficult to find a good apprasier. Good luck!! (Why do you need to have it appraised, before giving it to her..couldn''t it wait until after the appraisal?)

Do a google search for gemologists. You probably have to have it done in Canada though. My insurance insisted on a Canadian appraisal.

Only reason I was looking to get it appraised before giving it to her is in case there is something wrong (which is highly doubtful), and I need to return it within the prescribed return period.
