Hey guys, so I have yet another question for you. I am going to be purchasing both a diamond and setting from the same place (Excel). My question is, should I have the loose stone sent out for appraisal and then also once I get the completed ring from them have that also appraised? Do I need 2 appraisals or should I be okay just getting the whole ring appraised once I receive it? The diamond will be GIA certified, etc. I am having it appraised for insurance purposes. My budget only allows me to spend about $3000 on the whole thing so I don''t want to keep adding costs with appraisals but if everyone thinks it''s smart to do it twice, then that''s what I''ll have to do.

I appreciate your input!

Thanks!

Gary

Excel are a reputable vendor, what you could do is have the completed ring appraised as mounting permits and inspected, then the appraiser can give you a suitable figure for insurance.

Thanks Lorelei... that''s what I wanted to do. I figured since they were repitable that I could trust them. It''s a scary thing though.. You want to make sure you get the stuff you are paying for. I''m so excited. Thanks for the response!

I completely understand Gary, it is a large and important purchase and the reassurance that everything is as it should be from an independant pro is well worth it.

Let us know how you get on and we would love some pics of the ring when you are able please!

Do what you are most comfortable with.

It isn't that much more to do both appraisals compared to the cost of a diamond.

On the other hand excel does provide a lot of information so if you decide to just get it appraised mounted that is good also.
