just out of interest ... and future planning.... for international orders from the US... what do you do next..... as you guys know ive decided on a few diamonds ive seen from rep. vendors but the thing that gets me is this wiring transfer business.... i would more then happy put it on cc..... my question is after looking at the websites, photos and even videos... of the diamond... how are you 100% sure thats whats gonna get shipped..... do you look to an independent appraiser and if so have it appraised in the UK ( which is what i am going to do anyways ) or have it appraised in USA.... im just unsure what the next CORRECT step is ....

can you guys help or previous UK buyers... i totally trust the vendors on show from what ive read but you can never be 100% especially with that type of dollars

I see an increasing number of international clients. Mostly what they’re looking for is confirmation that the stone is what has represented by the seller and additional information so that they can be certain that they won’t want to return it. Some dealers provide a lot more information than others and your needs to hire your own expert depend on what you are looking for and where you find it. Even with very cooperative dealers, the process of dealing with customs can be a frustrating experience and they don’t make it easy to collect a refund even when the dealer is. In high tax countries this can be a big deal. In the UK it’s just the VAT but on a big purchase that can add up to quite a bit.
