I got engaged and received my e-ring in late November. Although my fiance ordered the ring from an on-line vendor, he did not get the diamond independently appraised nor he did obtain insurance. I know the 30-day return policy has just passed, and I regret not getting the diamond appraised myself earlier after reading all these pricescope posts. However, is there a point to getting an appraisal done now at this late juncture since we would not even be able to return it if the specs don''t match up? I do have an AGS certificate and there is a laser inscription. I would at least like to know that I have the diamond on the cert. Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like getting it appraised could be worth it for your peace of mind. Perhaps all you really need is for someone to tell you it is the spec you paid for. I believe some Jewelers will do that for free.

If you have a loupe why not find the inclusions and make sure they match the certificate?

It sounds like you are worried about the stone matching your certificate and that is a good reason to get it appraised. But to me, the more important reason to get it appraised at this point is so that you can insure it. You don't want to lose it and be unable to replace it!
