Appraisal Question

Sorry all, I put this in the wrong topic. Not thinking today...

I am helping someone purchase an eternity band online. Do you all recommend that he have it independently appraised? Or is it not as crucial and the seller''s appraisal will do? Thanks!

my rule of thumb is over $500 have it appraised,
If there is a queestion about it have it appraised otherwise just enjoy it :}
