Hey all! This may sound like a stupid question, but...
Is it better to appraise a loose diamond or a diamond already on the setting?
We need to appraise the stone for insurance purposes, but we were wondering if it is better to appraise it now or if we should wait until it is mounted on the custom setting.
Also, should we appraise the setting too? Our main concern is for the center stone as our jeweler has stated that he will replace any of the small stones on the setting if they ever fall out. But I was thinking, what if the ring gets lost or stolen?
Is it best to appraise the ring as a whole or the diamond and the setting independently?
Thanks in advance!! Happy Holidays!!!
