Appraisal Process

I am sure this has been discussed many times, but I couldn''t find what I was looking for.

I want the engagement ring to be purchased at beginning of November. I am either going with a ring from WhiteFlash or JA. I saw that WhiteFlash gives some sort of separate appraisal, does JA do the same? I mainly want the appraisal for insurance purposes, would the included one from WF be enough for that? Would you consider it safe to ask (if buying from WF) just to verify if it is the correct diamond matching the certificate and not get it ind. appraised?

Also, if I do get it independently appraised, I have no appraisers near and no way of getting to one, is it possible for them to appraise it without me there?

Thanks, and any other advice on the appraisal process I should know would be appreciated.

You should be able to get an insurance based on the appraisal or even receipt of the purchase. JA should give one too. WF is considered safe, but some do it as a double check, mistake happens sometimes even to the best.

A lot of appraisers does accept mailed in jewelry to appraise and then re-ship it to the owner. Use this link to find one you are comfortable with.
